Right, but I was hoping for it in the new format.

Why not run one season within the alpha stage with open signup? It would remove all the first-stage-testers-advantage complaints and would get broad feedback before the real thing starts.

Not enough favoritism in your idea.

Probably because it would move everyone to a separate server and they would have to create a crap ton of dummy leagues and teams for the process. Not sure that server can hold a lot of traffic but that is just my guess. Right now there are only 5 leagues full of teams. Won't be too long before it is open anyways. Bort is just working on new play art so plays are easier to read and they are working on the forums mostly.

If they can't run that, they can't run the real game....?

Huh? They are 2 different servers. What you are suggesting would be to bring everyone over to the smaller server that is only built for testing rather than wait a week or 2 for them to bring everything over to the live server which can handle us all?

Not saying that is exactly the reason or why it works. Just from my understanding seems pretty logical.

That is not what I am saying. I am saying that it would be sensible to run a season of open testing before taking it to beta. If that is in two, three or ten weeks, that doesn't matter. If they have confidence in the product that should be a sound business decision. If they think letting people try it for one season would turn them away from the game, it might not be something that GLB will consider.

We all know that beta is not really beta for this game. Beta is the actual game, not a testing phase.
