Their primary assignment is to take out the OTs so the LBs can get the pressure. That's why most pass rushing LBs in the nfl, used to play DEs in college.

The Phillips 3-4, the DEs job is to occupy space, disrupt the OTs, and let the blitzing LB get the rush to the QB.

Can a DE in a 3-4 still get to the QB? Sure, but that's not their primary role.

Please stop posting because your ignorance long ceased being comical. You got this exactly wrong. In the Phillips one-gap 3-4, the DE's responsibility is to penetrate. That's completely different from the old two-gap 3-4 where the DE's responsibility is to occupy blockers. As dpride said, you know even less about real football than you do about GLB, and the only thing you know about GLB is how to log in.
