Likely they felt they were going to lose whether they boosted or not, so might as well not hurt their chances in the league. That makes sense.

I've spoke to the 100 top owners in the game via PM on the subject. I think I know a little more than you do about what they think.

No team needs to prove themselves in this tournament more than the Trout. The Brown Trout, Cobra Kai, and Galaxy Aces all want to go around and talk about themselves as top 10 teams, but none of them have proved they belong in the top 10 imo. Of course all 3 pulled out/didn't try in the tournament that could prove it!!

I guess it is much easier to convince yourself that you are top 10 when you don't have to face the reality of a boxscore that shows otherwise.....you really should just pull out completely like the other 2 coward teams who were afraid to face a loss.

Hey, come on now, Brown Trout does have a fairly legitimate complaint about last year. They looked real good in CPL until something really bad happened.

And, their first round opponent, GSA, sucks. Trout has a real chance to at least advance to the next round.

Agreed. I considered all options and the best one was to have the championship game as close to the end of the regular season as possible. That way at least the championship game would be fully boosted. And the teams that wanted to win more could boost earlier. So you would at least have teams that want to win in the later rounds.

I dont see how you can say most teams are taking this as seriously as their league. Im not saying people are intentionally doing really stupid stuff to lose on purpose, but youre kidding yourself if you think teams feel one of these games is as important and worth as much preparation time as a league game. I know that you put a lot of time into this and did the best with what you had to work with, but until a tournament like this has a more formal selection process and structure it will just be more of the same.

Does that mean they would have won for sure in a game that looked about EVEN when you took those factors out? And remember, this was a 1st round game and not the championship. Then that team they looked EVEN against (Bastards) lost to CCC who lost to Dryden who lost to the Hobos:

Trout = Bastards < Cartel < Dryden < Hobos

So how does that make the Trout a top 10 team??

The Hobos are the ones who have the right to possibly claim being a top 10 team... certainly not the Bastards or Trout.

The Trout were just robbed of a chance to prove it.

They think they level and the fact that they are obviously smarter than everyone should be enough evidence enough that their team is superior. I ain't buyin it yet. Need to show it on the field imo.

The Trout have an excuse for EVERY GAME they have played since I joined CPL: 16 games in the regular season their excuse was that they weren't boosted. The 1 playoff game their excuse was that the substitution pattern was changed.

Stop talking about it and prove it on the field. This year. Not season 1 or season 2 or what could have been in season 3.

No one has more to prove than the Trout because of how their season ended.

The 3 teams that bitched about their ranking the most:

1.) Trout - even when ranked in the top 25, you and Vanilla Ice were saying HIGHER!
2.) Cobra Kai
3.) Mainboard Pimps

I didn't hear a *peep* out of 50+ of the 64 teams.....

everyone was just saying that the ranking system as a whole was stupid since it automatically put you behind a team that beat you in the playoffs. For us it was retarded since our game was clearly not on an even field, but one game is not the be all end all to determine who should be ranked higher for any team.

The 9 seed is victorious.
