uh oh...just got notice that MKDR team sold / went CPU? Is this the end of the retirement team? Looks like podger (owner) hasn't logged in in a couple weeks?

Never owned a team before, but I'd buy it to keep the retirement team going...if someone would nicely tell me how to do that. lol

Hey All,

I'm using this forum for this announcement since, well, this is relevant to "why this team exists".

Monkey Kong Donkz Rulez (MKDR) is changing it's name to Elysium Immortals. I have a name request in to change my Agent name from BuddyRyans34D to Daedalus.

This will be a retirement team (480+ day dots only) for the enjoyment/amusement of those of us who just don't want to retire a dot or dots that are special to us. All existing MKDR agents & dots have been welcomed and encouraged to stay. The team is just for fun. We won't be competitive...unless we convince other agents to start retirement teams of their own!? That would be pretty awesome actually.

My credentials: I don't know squat about owning a team, or GMing, or OCing, or STing, or game planning, or playbooks, or stadiums, or finances, or...lol. I DC'd for about 5 seasons back in the early days (like S5-S10). I've asked our current Agents to let me know if any of them have experience in these areas and would like to contribute (as little or as often as desired) as I would welcome the assistance. If we don't, I'll be looking for some newcomers who may want to have a little fun with it. I'd prefer to just pay the owner bill/flex each season, manage the roster, and check the GLB forums every couple days to stir the pot. Lol.

All I'm asking of our current Agents that want to stay on the team and any new Agents joining is that they:
- Log in at least once a month
- Keep training and adding SAs (until maxed) & VAs to your dots
- Have fun
- Don't be a huge douche (though witticism and sarcasm are highly encouraged)

I've asked our current Agents to let me know if they intend to stay or go. I won't be booting anyone I don't hear back from this 1st season, but if there are agents who haven't logged in during the entire next season, we'll likely replace their dots with more active "old" agents/dots if we have an opportunity. I'll be giving priority to the "oldest" dots, assuming they had adequate builds early on and have (or plan to) continue training going forward.

If you or others you know have any 480+ day dots you'd like to bring to Elysium, let me know. I'm going to start sending out offers to 480+ day free agent dots out there to try and get rid of as many CPU dots (we currently have 10) as we can.

Ideas welcome from all our existing and future Agents! I'm just looking to have a little fun with this experiment!?

Kudos to podger for owning/running the team for so long. Hopefully he comes back soon, joins us, and appreciates the legacy we're working on here.

My favorite story from the making of that movie is the argument Russell Crowe got into with the director over the scene where Commodus tells him "You will remove your helmet and tell me your name." Crowe thought that Maximus's response in the script was garbage, the whole "father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife" speech, and he refused to film the scene as-scripted, demanding a re-write. The director was equally insistent that the scene be filmed as scripted. Finally, when it looked like Crowe was about to either quit or be fired, he defiantly thundered at the director, "Okay, fine, it's still rubbish, but I'm such a good actor, I can make it work anyway!" They filmed it, and he knocked it out of the park, but his fury there in that scene is not entirely acting.

For the record, I LOVED that dialogue, and I'm glad Crowe backed down.

Such a fantastic movie.

Thanks for picking up the reigns. Between RL and general apathy toward the game, guess I lost track of the turnover date. My sincere apologies to the agents, as the intention wasn't to ghost. But I'm glad to see that the torch was picked up/passed. This team has been the only thing that has really kept my interest in the game for a while now.

Daedalus, note you'll need to make sure that for dots over 1000 days old, if you recruit them or agents forget to re-up on their contracts and become free agents, you'll need to PM support to get them on the team, as the game doesn't allow you to sign free agents over 1000 days.

I'm finally free of the financial burden of buying flex each year. I've got big plans for that $10.
