I've always been a fan of games that involve strategy. Football (of course), chess, Starcraft, Warcraft, etc. I agree with everyone else, IRON MAN LEAGUE FTW!!!

I wish there was something I can do to help make this happen

Another strategic element is deciding what exactly to build. Say you want to build a WR/CB -- likely to be a common position -- but do you start from a WR base or a CB base? Each would have its own advantages and disadvantages.

This to me, would be an awesome part of the game. Trying to figure out how to build your player for two different positions. You're gonna have to lean one way or the other. You cannot be just as good at CB as you can at WR. Just like in real life, players will be better naturally better at one position than the other. So you have to decide which position you will specialize in. There's so much strategy to this. If you're making a whole team, do you want to make most of your guys offensive players first? or defensive? Half and half? I imagine a team of mostly Defensive players would be monsterous to score against, but they would be a lot weaker on offense. On the flip side, a team of mostly Offensive players would put up a lot of points, but be very weak on D. A lot to think about. It would be so fun to figure all that stuff out.

still love this game -

as my players are getting older - and in some cases involved on very deep teams where they see only 20-30 snaps a game -

an idea like this would make the game much, much more interesting to me

What about tactics, It should go the way of casual, no exploits, no one play everygame so that teams arent built just for a rush slam or all 5 wr set or going for it every 4th down!!

I would prefer to be able to use the AIs, and I think the new penalties for running the same play over and over again would actually hit the Iron Man teams a bit harder than it would regular teams. But I'm not adamantly opposed to the idea of making it a casual league. I just think the advanced game is much more fun.

OK so don't build any WR's, TE's or any passing game what so ever? what for right? And have you seen all the whiners still about the rushing exploits and powerbacks? Did you just get out from under a rock, I slam, 5 WR sets, QB rushes etc still dominate!

Balanced gameplanning for a balanced roster is the only way to go here or its going to be all rushing with the 10 other guys built for defence!!

This is a debate for a separate thread. But if you become a one-dimensional team, I guarantee me and my new defensive play creator will come up with a way to stop you. People whine about stuff. That doesn't make it valid.

Somehow I just read all of this, my thoughts:

At first this sounded amazing. Then 'supgreg' made me want to drown myself irl because of his ignorance. Then he miraculously made an intelligent post. Something along the lines of "iron man could destroy GLB'. Like he said, Casual and Peewee league players are still able to join all other teams after they are through with their old team, but obviously Ironman players MUST join another Ironman team for obvious reasons. This will create an entire new community/fan base, if it becomes popular enough. Then free agent numbers will decrease for 'regular GLB' because:
1. not everybody will spend money on new players
2. people that do spend money will have to decide "ironman" or "regular GLB"

All-in-all this will just slow down the progress of "regular GLB". Having iron man will only split the community that as of now is, "a whole" theoretically of course. People will eventually decide that one is better than the other and likely stick to one over the other. Of course the hardcore people will like doing both.

Then of course massive amounts of exploits will happen in this type of league where 1 type of team will be dominant and people will complain about that. So many more options for exploits imo, and thats with Casual League settings, let alone if you are allowed to use AI settings, which is rediculous imo.

Cool idea, but make a new website and do it right, imo.

Edit: i have alot of opinions i noticed after reading this, lol.

I have a farm team this season. My DT is level appropriate for the league so he's playing NT and OG just to see how he'll hold up. If anyone has any level 40ish players that want to try out, just PM me.

just a thought, what would you think about having players rolled for this league be inclined to higher minor attributes... it would help to creat Randle El type players (QB in college, WR in NFL)

The main problem I'd see (without reading this entire forum) is player stamina. It'd have to edited for this league. Right now in the pee-wee leagues if a guy tops 50+ plays he's down to 10 energy. You'd basically have a 4th quarter of nobody moving

While energy does affect performance on the field, I would heartily disagree that players don't move when they reach 10 energy. Their performances are hampered by low energy levels, but a guy with 70 speed and 10 energy is still much faster than a guy with 50 speed and 10 energy.

Stamina (and energy levels) would be a key issue in this league; there is no debate about that. Players would have to build with this in mind, GMs would have to gameplan with this in mind and owners would have to fill out their 15-man rosters with this in mind. It would require a lot of strategy and a whole new way of looking at the player build models.

I do not see energy levels as a problem. I see it as one of the big selling points of this league -- it requires a lot more strategy and probably has more than one answer that the creative minds who play on GLB will have to solve.
