GLB2 is set in the future. In the year 2050, the sport of football has been outlawed due to excessive violence. There was an epic legal battle waged by the
International
Football
Corporation (what the NFL will later evolve into) and the CPCP (Center for Prevention of Cruelty to People). It went all the way to the Supreme Court and the end result was a compromise. Football is too violent to be played (wait for it)
BY HUMANS !!In GLB2, robots that are owned by the IFC, are programed by normal people. The robots are all the same size and shape. The robot height of 10 feet was deemed optimal. By increasing the size of the robot to be approximately 40% larger than the average human football player, stadium seats could be placed farther away. The result is that most stadiums can now accommodate nearly a million fans. The Bots have a set physical potential that cannot be breached. It's the programmers job to unlock as much of that potential as possible. The robots battle it out for a few seasons to weed out the weakest programs, and the winners ultimately compete in globally televised games.
