+1 teams need money to keep running not going under. Plus the economic model is in need of repair not more gimmicks

Try dealing with prima dona players that get no returns and are inactive. Not to mention being a team that has teams being able to bring in high level players.

Do like the NFL does

Cut the ticket prices for pre-season/favorite games in half as well as parking for those games

charge parking fees in the regular season.

awesome idea

You have level 17 players on your team. Wait until you try paying for level 56 equipment.. then you will be saying the same thing.

Honestly, I'd much rather more stadium expansion than parking.

I think that this could get out of hand.... sure everyone want sto generate more revenue but think about all the things we could lose money on but don't;

Employee Salaries, Electricity, taxes... the list goes on and on....

As for concerts well most municipalities run these events as part of the compensation for giving the stadium owners tax breaks....

While I agree the GLB economic model is broken... let's keep this a football game and not a stadium money making game....

uh, I have NEVER paid $25 for stadium parking. if you park at a nearby private lot, they may charge you $25 to park...but I highly doubt the team sees any of that money.

stadium parking, the actual parking spaces at the stadium itself, prices are usually to just cover employee costs and such to handle directing cars. jmho.

here in az, the cardinals actually have a free shuttle service from a nearby school with free parking. I'm sure its a wash with the cost of parking prices at the stadium itself.

where they get you is the game tickets and concessions.

Have you ever looked up the price for parking at a New England Pats game? Its anywhere from $35-$75 for Parking alone.

this would fall into the rich getting richer, which would result in higher salaries which would result in more threads trying to generate more cash, etc.......

What about "concerts" for money during the offseason?

How in the world can anyone say parking lots don't make money for stadiums, theme parks, whatever? Even if they only have 1,000 spaces and charge only $10, that's virtually all profit. Now, consider that pro stadiums have many more than 1K spaces and charge on average more than $10. You're talking a nice chunk of change.

It would be very easy to roll that into your concessions money.

And why doesn't it make sense to charge for preseason tickets and concessions? Both of these ideas are perfectly legitimate and realistic.

Now, I don't care if we do any of these or not, but there's absolutely no reason to attack these ideas as stupid or unrealistic.

The point is though, that without a whole other tangent on things to do with the money, then making the extra money from parking etc only helps those who might not have planned/built as well as others (and in turn negates an advantage that some have planned for and earned). I am all for complicating ownership, but there are other pressing issues to deal with first, and ultimately it is all relative.

If you make an extra 15% from parking, and pay an extra 12% for security etc (as mentioned above), then although it adds another dimension to manage, it adds virtually nothing to your bottom line.

Some stadiums don't have parking lots though. The Vikings play in downtown Minneapolis, no room for a big parking lot. If you want to park, you have to find a privately owned lot. Perhaps the parking lot could be something you add-on to the stadium, much like stadium sections.

I like it

+1 to preseason concession profits.
+1 to preseason game profits.
-1 to parking profits in general. do teams really profit from that?
-1 to concerts.
