has to be balanced, imo

So many attributes are complimentary of one another.

For example,

my DE has needed reasonable investment in \
pass rush tech (ability to manuever/break free from pass blocker)
pass rush power (push back/pancake ability and holding your ground when being pass blocked)
blitz awareness (being able to see that the ball has been pitched/handed off)
pursuit (finding way around blockers)
balance (stay upright and regain balance)
conditioning (how quickly you become winded + max energy)
sprinting (how fast you run at full speed)
footwork (ability to backpedal/sidestep)
snap reaction (how quickly you react to snap of the ball).

and there are probably other attributes i should invest in for his functions but i just haven't.

I have three DE builds right now:

Run Stuffer
Power Tackler
Blitzer

Each have very different skills and traits. I've got some that are more balanced (taking all of the relevant skills up to the point where it cost 100 SP to go any further, then increasing the more important skills) and other that are lopsided (like I've got a build with 79 Tackling Grip, 50 Strip Ball Technique, and 40 Break Run Block).

I'm thinking of repecing some of the builds tonight, there are a few abilities that I've found are just destructive to the other team at this level, and I want to see if I can take advantage of that. Showboat for instance just destroys the morale of the entire O any time the bot makes a sack or a TFL, and restores morale and energy to the entire D. Since I get sacks with the FS/SS, my DEs, and my LBers mostly, I'm going to see about getting a single point into that with all of those players.

I also need better blitz awareness and break run block skills, because it is the running teams that are dominating at our level.

I especially like the energy restoration bonus, because I'm running a team with low maximums on the Conditioning skill.

That being said, I think the counter to Showboat Ability is the QB's Leadership Skill that restores morale every play. I haven't used it much, but it might be a good counter.

Explain Blitz Awareness to me a bit more. Is it just for when you are blitzing? And are the defensive lineman considered to be blitzing basically all the time? I assume there are some plays where the DEs go out into flat zones too.

It allows you to break off your pattern to go after the ballcarrier from what I can tell. Bort won't tell us what any of these things do, so we have the mouseover and the playtesting to go on.

I notice that they have terrible reactions to the ball being pitched and they continue to go after the QB. I want them to break off the blitz to hit the ballcarrier (who they are often standing beside... sometimes it looks like the pitch went right through the D player and the D player continues on to the QB).

Also they are terrible at counters and you really have to blitz from the right spot to hit the counters, kind of like in PW in GLB1. I'm sure our dots are going to get better by the end of the first season, but it is frustrating to watch sometimes.

I had requested to be an Alpha Tester but was not selected. Had I been selected, I would have tried to do the best job that I could, but I'm kinda relieved that I don't have that responsibility now. I'm just about overwhelmed trying to keep up with the info being posted and I'm thankful for all the work being put in by the Testers and Admins. Hopefully, there will be a "condensed guide of the most important things to know about to begin playing" set up when the game is ready to go into Beta.

I'm pretty much the definition of that currently, I don't think anyone in this thread has heard of me.

Overall, as a casual owner over there, I've built almost all of my roster, and went with default tactics and my team is currently ranked 2nd in both the ladder and the league at 11-4, not that it matters.

I've found it very easy to own the team, outside of the fact that I can't find an OC/DC to set tactics/depth chart, but that's obviously due to it being a limited amount of people. Once there are more, obviously that won't be a factor. As far as player creation goes, I did feel a little overwhelmed at first with the multitude of different skills it seemed, with speed and agility being replaced by what seems like 4-5 individual skills, though it really lets your player specialize at a certain skill set. Currently I have a speed WR super star that gets open more often than not, has the most yards in the league, but also the most drops.

On the other hand, I've got guys that are all hands, but aren't a deep threat, with less drops, though they still occur. On offense, I haven't had much success with my power back, he seems to get gobbled up due to lack of speed, but I'm sure that will change once he hits higher leagues, and has more sprinting. I'm really enjoying the customization and the fact that there aren't set days to create or set build guides to get the max, no cooking cutting, yet anyways. I'm sure there will be expectations down the road, but right now it really feels like you can customize your player the way you want, what you really want to see out of him besides just capping speed/agility/etc..

I have almost every position built, so if anyone has questions pertaining to builds, what certain players have that others don't, etc. I'm sure I can answer some questions, or at least find out at the very least.

The admins have been doing exceptional work, responding to bugs and getting them fixed almost as soon as they are reported, and the game has come a long way I feel since only just a few days ago. It will continue to get better, and I have nothing but praise for the direction the game is going, and I really am looking forward to the game being opened for everyone so we can really get a good thing going. There's a lot of things about this game that I wished I had seen in GLB1, and as far as I am concerned, GLB2 has me won overall.

Feel free to ask me questions. Like I said, I'm a nobody on here, and hardly have experience owning/coaching a team and I'm finding it a lot more easy to approach than GLB1.

Thanks Bob for posting that. Seems like a good opportunity for you to learn how to coordinate yourself. Sounds like a smaller learning curve than GLB1.

But will new/updated rules destroy builds in the new game also?

Thanks bob, it is good to hear from you and your input of the game. Interestingly enough your post makes the game seem less scary than I had originally thought it was.

Not a problem. Figured I'd help amidst all the current crazy shenanigans of people wondering what the game is like.

Like I said, if anyone has any questions as far as maybe the more casual side of the game, or wants me to find something out, let me know.
