Anyone from another league want to weigh in on my bolded statement there?

Which holds more weight - a CPL crown or the winner of this tournament?

Hmm...

If someone other than a USA Pro league team wins we will get:

"See?! I told you USA Pro was weak!!!@!111onewon"

If someone from USA Pro wins we will get:

"Knew it from the start!!!112@!!1onewon"

This tournament won't fix ANY of the debate regarding teams. When Bort finally gets around to actually having a REAL tournament or Championship League THAT is when you will see the best games.

Now, to get to your question. If someone from another league (non USA Pro) wins, they would have instant credibility if only because some of the best teams are in it.

The REAL question to ask is: Are the Pro teams taking this seriously? I don't think so. Look at the scores, they speak for themselves.

lol if they do

I bet less than 10 percent actually gameplan to win, its a good chance to test stuff out against a good team

why lol @ teams that want to win the tournament of the best teams ever assembled in GLB? Isn't that the point of the game? To win? I would rather win this tournament than the CPL title if I had to pick.

And you can test stuff against a team any day of the week if you want to. Why would you enter a tournament of the best teams just to do that?

And with how often Bort changes stuff, something that works in game 1 doesn't work in game 5, so no use hording info. Plus everyone gets to see the results of your experiments. Kinda defeats the purpose if you find something that works.

because everyone here but you would say that winning their league is more important than this

It isn't as straightforward as you think. The top 10 teams or so would rather win their own league (USA Pro). Then it is about 25-50% of the other owners would rather win this I think. Yes, everyone will have excuses the first year, but I think the winner of this tournament will generally be viewed as a top 3 team in GLB any way you slice it.

No one outside of USA Pro could say that before. No matter if they won SA Pro or SE Asia Pro or WEPL (or even CPL) 10 times in a row, they were always considered 2nd class citizens. Dryden and the Hobos get little to no respect right now across GLB as top teams. FYI, Trout gets even less respect than Dryden or the Hobos.

As an owner, the most important thing to me is winning my league. The bragging rights and prestige earned from winning a tournament like this would be nice, but by winning your league you're making $20-30 million off of ticket and concession sales. If boosting for this tournament hurts my chances of winning my league, then I'm not even going to consider it.

It's almost impossible to say who the top 64 teams are at this point, since many teams are holding off on boosting until lvl 29/30, while others have boosted for the tournament.

One problem I have is if you're a bubble team and every player on your team boosted for the tournament, they each lose a few hundred experience points for this season. That really might be enough to drop them out of the top 64 for next season's tournament, while teams who were left out of this one might be in next year's because they boosted late.

So next season's tournament should be more accurate, since by then it'll be in everyone's best interest to boost at the start of the season anyway because they won't be losing any experience out of the deal.

All they have to do is schedule the game that they are supposed to play (or accept the offer of the other team).

Only the owner can do that though.

Just let me know soon if the owner is going to be able to do that.

I think this tournament has ALREADY determined that teams from non-USA Pro are ready to beat all but the top 4-5 teams from USA Pro.

Because as much as the favored teams can come in here and claim they didn't try, the underdog teams can come in and say they didn't try either.

Maybe no one else is going to admit that they went all-out, but I can tell you that I'm going to spend more time on my first round opponent than I have for any regular season game. If we lose, it won't be for lack of effort.

I could be wrong about the reason for the boosts, but it seems that our opponent, Detroit Dump Trucks of USA Pro, has boosted alot of players in the last week.

We are almost 100% boosted as well, but not for the tournament, but because we need to in order to secure a playoff spot in our tough league.

This is the first season where we will actually have a legit champion for CPL, and we know that each team is taking each playoff game seriously (and I expect the same in every other league). The same cant be said for this. A bunch of teams aren't boosting for this, but every single one of them will for the playoffs.

1.) There are Dong players on several CPL teams. I wouldn't bet that they still don't have control.

2.) This tournament may not decide the best team, but it may decide who the best BOOSTED team is. You are just bitter because you want to know how good your team is, but will have to wait another year because you want to wait to boost. So you trash the teams that have boosted and are going to be trying to win. I know you don't speak for Vanilla Ice, but if you guys aren't going to try your best, then I think you shouldn't have entered the tournament and left a team that wanted to win enter instead. Unless of course you are just posturing/ making excuses in advance for why you didn't win like many other teams.

I just noticed something. I think we are playing the only "48" team in the tournament. LOL. At least I won't be accused of giving ourselves an easy opponent:

Looks like one of the few USA Pro teams to fully boost.

They aren't fully boosted, actually. Some backups and a few starters are fully boosted, other just a level (possibly two) it looks like. Most of their best players (Crewe, Declan, Rudy, etc.) aren't. You see a Day 0 player at 28/29, it means they haven't boosted yet.

There are only a few players on their team like the QB who aren't 2-3 levels higher than when the season started. They are probably mostly boosted according to my numbers (remember, I have all their numbers from when I did the rankings in the offseason). I still have a couple stragglers too, but for the most part, their team is about 3 levels higher than the start of the the season. No HB was higher than level 25 coming in (maybe Declan is new to the team?) and now they are at 28 and 29. I would guess without looking at the numbers in detail that they are somewhere between 50 and 70% boosted. There are alot of teams that are near 0% boosted. They aren't one of them.
