If something is rising at 10x per period of time, and then it drops to 7x per period of time, and 5x per period of time -- while still a positive value -- it's still a decline.

So because the amount of growth is less that means it's not still growth? I'm sure all the fat people in America will be glad to hear that. As long as they're only gaining five pounds a week vs. the ten pounds a week they used to gain they're losing weight! Eureka! Hey, tell me about that bridge you had for sale while you're at it.
TJ, I was off by one quarter which is still immaterial since we haven't even had one quarter yet with shrinkage in the GDP, much less two consecutive quarters. Again I concede the point that we will have a reduction in GDP this quarter, but you can't lay much blame at the feet of Republicans here. Let's not forget who has been in a position to make changes for the past two years and have sat on their thumbs because they didn't want Republicans to get any credit for anything. If Pelosi, Obama, Reed, et. al. had the altruistic motives being assigned them, they would have rolled up their sleeves and taken care of business two years ago instead of playing this partisan politics BS. Let's not forget that Fannie and Freddie were Dem pet projects created by Carter and run and looted by Dems. Let's not forget that it was Clinton's regime that forced banks to loosen their lending guidelines on pain of being probed by Janet Reno (believe me, you do not want her probing you). If all this could be even tenuously laid at the feet of some Republican I assure you the proverbial pitchfork party would have been formed to lead the culprit before Waxman's little dias with all due haste. Instead the Congress has spend its time investigating Roger Clemens for steroids and the NE Patriots for cheating. Not their f'ing bailiwick. I'm glad that poverty and hunger had been wiped out, peace brought to the middle east, relations with the Soviets and Chinese cleaned up and the energy crisis solved so they could turn their eyes to the problems in professional sports.
What irritates the hell out of me is watching the Republicans try to out-Democrat the Democrats for the last eight years. Hopefully they see that as a losing strategy now after two consecutive elections where they lost congressional seats.
Phew. Okay /rant. Got a little off topic there, too. Sorry about that.

It's still growth, but is is a decline. It is declining growth. We're just arguing bullshit semantics here. I'm not even arguing it nor care. I'm just pointing out the reality.

Economies go through up and down cycles. The important thing is that they continue to grow. The media hammered this decline in growth so they could get their guy in, telling everyone we were in a recession which was untrue. That is the reality, my friends.
Now we'll really go into a recession. The last thing the Democrat party wants is a populace that is self reliant.

I've been sick as a dog the last week and NO it's not because of the election. I got some major flu bug. I'm back on my feet now. I just want to say congratulation on your historic journey. Regardless of my feelings and who I voted for. We have a new President Elect. I just want to say that I hope to God that I am wrong about what I fear. I hope that, soon to be, Mr. President Obama will unite this country. I pray daily for the protection and wisdom for the man who will be my President. Now let us all keep our beliefs but join together and support this nation. We have a lot of healing to do.
As for 2012 all I have to say is... You Betcha!!! LOL Just Kidding

Is it OK now? No. Not since Aug/Sept. Has there been a downward trend this year? Sure. Lots of fearmongering from the Dems and the lefty media about how we're headed for the next Great Depression tends to make people hide their money in mattresses instead of spend it.
Anyway, the election is over, we get four years (God I hope that's all we get) of Marx, so we'll just play it by ear. I'm seriously oversaturated with political crap and just want to enjoy what is left of my life before Obama's Civilian Defense Force drags me away to the re-education camps.
