which makes sense as they are too deep in, but with the 70% return i can certainly see that in the new game they probobly should have some other "options" that you can do costing flex. they need to be sure not to price themselves out of work.

yup, p much this.

look, if we are all honest, bort screwed up giving us all 70% flex back on retirement. not only is it a horrible business model, it's not sustainable unless you continue to grow the base of what is basically a niche game (which maybe is the same thing as being horrible). and now we all feel entitled and he's kinda trapped himself.

i think the proper model is subscription-based tiers, if its not already past the point of no return.

Without that retirement flex the user base would be far smaller by now

The minimum desired salary is affected by:

1) Position; and
2) Traits.

I posted a few pages back about how some traits will increase the minimum desired salary by X%. Choosing Superstar as a trait currently increases the minimum desired salary by 100%.

That being said, I am paying:

- my Superstar HB a [HIGH] salary of $456,250
- my regular HB a [MEDIUM] salary of $200,000
- my Superstar WR a [MEDIUM] salary of $280,000
- my regular WRs a [MEDIUM] salary between $155,000 and $175,000 (depending on traits)
- my PQB a [MEDIUM] salary of $240,000
- my RQB a [HIGH] salary of $306,250
- my regular DT a [MEDIUM] salary of $145,000
- my Superstar DT a [MEDIUM] salary of $265,000

So teams have a hard cap, correct?

Are the salaries of the Borts negotiable or are they set based on how the Bort is created? Ex, can your superstar QB only accept a contract for $456,250?

+1

Frankly, this game should be a LOT more successful than it is. Look at how many copies of Madden are sold every year, and that's the same shitty game every year.

If they're going to try and go into the tablet/phone market space, they seriously need to take a step back, look at micro transaction standard in the industry, and modify their business model.

The first thing that comes to mind is that you have to be able to earn flex slowly over time. Yeah, I get it, free players were added to counter the need for that, but it's missing the point. You need to reward players to stay and keep playing so they don't leave. With decaying flex upon retirement, they basically punish players the longer they around, as your flex dwindles and goes away.

Free players are also necessary, because, well, if a person doesn't have flex, they're more likely to quit than to buy more. And if they quit, then there's no income from them. At least if they're around playing, there's a _chance_ they'll pay.

Things like team ownership should be where most of the money is made, because it's optional, super enticing, and generally appealing to veterans (who are more likely to spend money.) Stuff like custom stadium designs, fields, team logos, should all cost money.

The 70% flex return kept GLB alive for 5 years. Not sure how you call that a failed business method. Multiple MMO's with large financial backing and advertisement failed under that period. What they did was amazing. Unfortunately they couldn't capitalize on multiple ventures when they were riding high in order to retain customers and gain capital on new ones.

Failed? I'm not sure I'd say that but I'd definitely say it's flawed. When's the last time most users here made a flex purchase? For quite a lot, it's been a while and they're living off that flex return

you get an option of low, medium or high.... you cannot negotiate the contract once you have accepted it. so if a team signs too many dots and doesnt do the math, they cant fix it until the contract expires.

cutting dots leaves a 20 day hold to resign them. You really have to pay attention to the salary cap now.

when was the last time a WOW player spent $1k in a year for the game? one is front loaded, the other will turn out to be more of a monthly type fee.

for all we know they could be living off the first million made in year 1. "alive" is very subjective is it not?

That aspect needs to be addressed and changed.

If we're going to (yet again) pretend that anybody logged into a football sim to "manage money", then we at the very least need to give those doing so all of the tools they need to get the job done. Managing contract renewals/extensions is part of running any salary-driven sports enterprise.

even if they were we are still here right? just look at all the games like quick hit that failed miserably. alive might be subjective but it is what it is. the flex return i think was brilliant being a short order coder project for a very niche market. like i said it is just a shame it wasnt able to grow quicker for similar reasons.

I know you did something to my other thread without really reading it, but can you please address one of the issues I brought up.

Or should I PM support?
