Beach boys should have no issues today passing or running the rock vs the thunder. better team wins
Honolulu Beach Boys win 27-13

Long Beach Dub All-Stars vs. Eugene SLUGs
I dont even have to look at the teams to call this game. BUT then again... the slugs like to screw me week in and week out... i pick em, they lose, i pick against em.. they win... but then again they are playing long beach. Someone call the BBB and tell them about the false advertising that long beach is doing. SLUGS.. you lose this game and your DEAD to me!!
Eugene SLUGs win 29-14

Huskers Illustrated Bugeaters vs. Tana River Ewoks
Riding a high of a 3 game win streak the ewoks are slowly getting it done and are very much in the thick of the Wests battle for seeding. Bugs....what can i say... you choked. you had the #1 seed and you let it slip out of your hands. But this week you guys outclass the ewoks so you might keep pace with the #1's and 2's of the west.
Huskers Illustrated Bugeaters Win 17-13

Possum Trot Plague vs. Chicago Inferno
Two teams here that are very evenly matched up. Honestly this wont be the last time they see each other this year. The plague have to kick in the jets and play some awesome run defense here today to pull this game out. only 2 things come to my mind when i am looking at this matchup. 1. Team chem. the plague, tho a good team havent had time to gel... and if they dont get this fixed soon they may miss the playoffs due to a slow start in recruiting. 2. The play of Tuffy Beastwich. Now Tuffy has been talking smack about his abilities as a running back. Considering a few things you would think he would stay low and shut his mouth when he is coming off his first season where he ran for a total of 135 yards on 48 carries in 4 games. It just goes to show he might be a product of the system chicago is using or the lack of talent the team has faced so far.
Chicago Inferno win 21-17

Frankfurt Universe vs. Los Angeles Express
There is a saying in blackjack.... Trends stack. And looking at this weeks matchup... it looks like it will too. The Universe are on a 2 game slide while the Express are on a 4 game win streak... make that 5.
Los Angeles Express Win 46-10

Montana Crow vs. Houston Toxins
The crows have a shot in this game... no really they do. If they traded players with Tecmo.
Houston Toxins win 28-19

Dallas Hitmen vs. Seattle Buffalos
Two middle of the pack teams trying to keep pace with the big boys in the west. It may be week 5 but this is a big game for both teams. To drop below 500 at this point with 6 teams in the west over 500 would put the losing team in a panic mode. Remember lil guys.. 8th seed in the west might just end up playing the express in the first round....
Seattle Buffalos win 24-14

Spokane Owls vs. Minnesota Mountain Lions
Battle of who gets booted out of the USA BBB!!! This is an EPIC game vs two WINLESS teams!!!! Owls... hope you have your bags packed for Europe.
Minnesota Mountain Lions Win..... and who could care?

Tampa Bay Tarpons vs. Charleston Mountaineers
Another Epic battle. If this game was on TV it would be founf on teh PBS network. Both teams are 1-3 and are doing their best to get the 1st pick in the draft... except no one told the owners that there is no draft. Ok flip of the coin... heads tails...
Tampa Bay Tarpons win... and no one was watching to catch the score.

Brooklyn Legacy vs. Buffalo Chips
Up till last week the Chips were fresh, tasty light and had 1/3 less grams of fat then all other chips. Then it happen, some one turned the lights on at the bar in Chocolate City and HOLY SHIT.... the Chips werent so hot anymore. Now they come to Brooklyn where they hope to get back on track... Unless Brooklyn has a total meltdown on offense, defense and special teams.... a blind person could pick this one.
Brooklyn Legacy Win 37-6

New Orleans Night Trippers vs. Awesomeville Bearphins
Here is a good game between two 3-1 squads. Both teams have a game plan and built a nice overall team. The Bearphins are on a 3 game winning streak where as the Trippers fell down last week and are no longer undefeated. Will they get back up and fight the good fight? IDK. this is a tough game to call cause both are like mirror images of each other. So this will come down to coaching and tactics. Close one that could go either way but should be a great game
Awesomeville Bearphins win 20-19

Carolina Bulldogs vs. Philadelphia Pigeons
The pigeons impressed me last week. all day before the game they mustve been watch reruns of Rocky movies and came in and pulled out a close win. With the East conference being so competitive, this game is a playoff game. The loser of this game might not recover in time to make it back to teh 8th seed where those teams will have a 2 to 3 game lead on em. Im going with the team that gives a shit and is trying
Philadelphia Pigeons 30-7

Chocolate City Saints vs. Sconnie Badgers
HERE IT IS FOLKS.... The game of the week!!! bought to you by Sprint, the shittiest network you can use. The Badgers travel to Chocolate City to face the Saints and man this matchup on paper looks to be a tight fought game. Giveme a minute... i really have to look deeper into this matchup... After further review of this game i see a clear cut winner if they do the correct tactics. Coaching is everything in this game....
Chocolate City Saints Win 13-10

New Jersey Blaze vs. Tecmo All Stars
Well the Blaze have for a few weeks called for attention on the tube about their team... and this week they get it. Tecmo has been lighting up the league with 1st, 2nd and 3rd stringers. They trimmed down their roster some and are streamrolling their way to the #1 seed. Cept things like this happen when teams look ahead... and sometimes coaching wins over levels.... Just not this week.
Tecmo All Stars Win 72-10

Sheffield Sabres vs. Bonita Beef Supreme
Sabres are stuck in a tarpit and totally blow.
Taco bell wins 26-6

New Jersey FalCoons vs. FC Hezbollah
Damn you Allah!!! lol If you lose this game to a 0-4 team... just buy a suicide vest and kill off your team.
FC Hezbollah win.... just freaking win...

By the way, thanks for taking the time to do this... it's a lot of fun to read. It'll be interesting to see what you have to say about our upcoming matchup. Good luck.

OK Who here has Excel????? if they have the program Excell you can do the power rankings.

I dont have excel and this is a fair and just way of doing the rankings instead of who you feel is the best.

if I am going to do it I am going to do it right. I just have not had time. A poster from a board I go to came up with a math formula to get it all:

Next, using the scaled player ratings, I give each team a separate rating in pass offense, rush offense, pass defense, and rush defense, using weighted averages of the players' relative importance to that aspect of the game. These are the crude formulas I'm using:

Pass Offense: (QB + (WR1 + WR2)/2 + TE/5 + (OL AVG)/2)/2.7
Rush Offense: (HB + FB/5 + (OL AVG))/2.2
Pass Defense: (CB1 + CB2 + (S AVG) + (DE AVG)*.75 + (LB AVG)/2)/4.25
Rush Defense: ((DT AVG) + (DE AVG)/2 + (LB AVG))/2.5

Then, I average the pass and run numbers together to get overall Offense and Defense rankings, and finally I average these numbers together to give the team its final Overall Power Ranking.

Adjustments: The power ranking is obviously not perfect. It will change each week as rosters change and players level up, but it also has systematic flaws that will get exposed when teams are "upset" by lower rated teams. To adjust for these upsets, any team that defeats a higher rated team (based on roster ratings AT GAME TIME) will receive an "upset bonus" equal to the difference in roster ratings. The higher rated team will receive an equal "upset penalty". These bonuses and penalties will be capped at 5-10, I'm not sure yet. Teams that are overrated in the roster ratings (because they lack depth, or their starters are poorly built and perform below their level, or because of poor game planning and tactics, or whatever other reason) will see their ranking drop, even as their roster rating remains high, as they lose games they "shouldn't" have. Underrated teams, with positive intangibles, will similarly see their ranking rise.

Power Ranking Formula.

Problem is it would take at least and hour or two to punch it all into a spread sheet. But if someone wants to go for it, its all yours. I asked and got the ok to use the system.

Link from where this came from http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=120267&page=1

Then you would write it up in this kind of format... http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=175888

takes about 2 hours to punch in the formulas into a spread sheet.. then about an hour every 2 days to punch in teh new teams data and to write up the new reports. so makes sure you have the time and the want to do this. Its fun, makes the division more fun and of course you make a name for yourself as a writer. people cant wait every two days to see the new rankings.

Example:

Pass Offense: (QB + (WR1 + WR2)/2 + TE/5 + (OL AVG)/2)/2.7
- Pass Offense: (13 + (13 + 13)/2 + 12/5 + (12.6)/2)/2.7
Rush Offense: (HB + FB/5 + (OL AVG))/2.2
- Rush Offense: (12 + 12/5 + (12.6))/2.2
Pass Defense: (CB1 + CB2 + (S AVG) + (DE AVG)*.75 + (LB AVG)/2)/4.25
- Pass Defense: (12 + 12 + (12.5) + (12)*.75 + (12.33)/2)/4.25
Rush Defense: ((DT AVG) + (DE AVG)/2 + (LB AVG))/2.5
- Rush Defense: ((12) + (12)/2 + (12.33))/2.5

Pass offense is rated 12.85
Rush Offense is rated 12.27
Pass Defense is rated 12.15
Rush Defense is rated 12.13

and that is the ratings he would use for a team

so then he combines the #'s

Pass offense + Rush Offense = Offensive rank.
Pass Defense + Rush Defense = Defensive rank.

12.85 + 12.27 = 25.12 offensive rank.
12.15 + 12.13 = 24.28 defensive rank.

Then to get a teams final ranking you do

Offensive rank + Defensive rank = Overall ranking.

25.12 + 24.28 = 49.4

Now im not 100% im correct, but i think this is the jist of the system. Only issue i have with this formula is that it only ranks you on your starters. maybe if we had a math guy who does stats come in and factor depth... maybe make their worth 50% since they tend to play less. would make the rankings more real instead of based on your starters

Where is the strength of schedule? I want coaches polls involved too. You can't use just math to determine power rankings. You think they do that on ESPN? We need to make it as messed up as it can be so nobody can get past how dumb it is put together. Then they won't argue as much about who is really the best.

It would be cool to see some power rankings even if they don't mean a whole lot right now.
