In general, it's true that defenses tire out faster. But when you go against a cupcake team that you beat 70-0, your offense is always on the field and your defense barely ever sees it except for the occasional three and out from the other team.

Ahh, right on, that makes sense. I guess that's a fringe benefit, then, of the fact that, while we win a lot, we don't win many by more than 20-30. Don't most teams sub based on score, though? If you're up by four touchdowns, it's time for your backups to come in.

If you're up three TDs, especially if it's late in the season...only idiots run the score up at the expense of their energy...

Eventually your back-ups will get tired as well.

and how exactly do you prevent it? is there a "don't try" setting?

The only thing I can see is running more to try and run out the clock faster. Of course the downside to this is your running backs may get more tired. And of course if it is a real blowout you would probably complete most of your passes anyway.

You can sub based on score, to make sure that your best players don't burn all of their energy to win by 7 TDs instead of 4. Ir's a smart move to make, especially as you gear up for the postseason.

we did that and still had plenty of starters (mostly offense) in the 50s and 60s after our games against the Pirates and Reef Sharks. if you way better than your opponent and your offense gets 20-play-possessions after every three-and-out on defense, they are going to have low energy, both backups and starters

Plus special teams kill your back-ups. Having to return 20 punts in a game really fucks up your stamina.

You use the force backups if up by x amount of points, force backups on third down, force backups on fourth down settings. Also, on advanced energy settings the amount of energy needed to return to the game should be in the 90s. That'll keep everyone in the recoverable energy range...

There is no "force backups on third down" or "force backups on fourth down" options. Only "force starters on third down", "force starters on fourth down" and "force starters in red zone" options.

You can force backups in each quarter based on how many points you're leading...

Should be an interesting playoff season.

IIRC, doesn't the championship go to the USA Pro League, and get moved permanently out of the conference? Is this the potential breakup of the Gods-Bandits rivalry ?

I look forward to this.

That should've read force starters on third and fourth down, force backups if up by X amount of points. It'll keep the energy distribution pretty even. When your defense is on the field as often as ours is, you get pretty good at setting the energy...
