this is a valid point. but i think all the "superstar" aspect does is give your guy a few more SP and some extra abilities. im sure people can still screw them up. and im sure you can still make a "regular" player that has the right comination of attributes to excel
if "regular" players are going to be perpetually average, i will be building a LOT less players tbh
Regular players would still be a necessity, at least from the salary cap things I've seen. You can't physically afford a team of superstar guys from a salary cap perspective.
Also, you need to accomplish 'career experience tiers' in order to get a superstar player. Meaning you have to make regular dots in order to get more superstar dots.
well of course regular players will be a necessity, but will i want to build a bunch them...........
and with smaller rosters you are more likely to force your starters in for most of the game. what would be the point of spending money on a 4th string WR that is not a SS?

because the team can only hold maybe 6-8 superstars? With the way things are structured in terms of player building, a superstar would initially have an advantage but that advantage would shrink as the dots gained experience and accrued more skill points.

I hope they did more than "upgrade" the graphics. I'll tell you one thing though, I'm not paying to test another game for Bort. He already took my money once and then gave up on this product.
Holy shit!

fwiw, there are plenty of non-mod testers. There are even agents that I've never seen over here (proves the randomness, lol). And as I've said before, plenty of the mods are long-time GLBers and had experience testing GLB1 in some form whether that be the test server or the advisory board. It's not some mod-orgy over there. Test pool is healthy.

The replays.
Ugh.
First of all, if you're gonna use real-looking players instead of dots... the players need to be smaller. They're too big right now (five yards long when they're laying on the ground!) and it makes for a VERY cluttered screen. It's nearly impossible at times to figure out what's going on, especially if there's a lot of players crowded together in the same area.
Study this image:

(Kudos to whoever first posted this image about 20 pages back.) Notice how much smaller the players are, relative to the field. Looks a lot less cluttered, right? MUCH easier to see what's going on and how everyone is interacting.
I don't necessarily mind the 8-Bit look of the players... just understand that for those of us who've been playing GLB 1.0, these graphics look too old-school to be viewed as an upgrade over dots. Newbies will like being able to see players running around, but that's it, and that novelty will wear off fast.
Give us a "dot-view" option. Make it an option. I can see why new players to the game might prefer seeing little dudes running around, but us GLB 1.0 vets are all used to dots. They worked perfectly well for 36 seasons, and there's nothing wrong with them.
Yep...I actually like the dots as well & feel like after the novelty wears off I'd likely prefer them.
But if sprites are the only option then shrink them a bit plus slow the animation sequence of the sprites a bit (or better tie the animation sequence speed to the player speed). Most appear to be running on a treadmill a little.

ive started a discussion thread on this stuff. i think i share the same thoughts as many regarding the graphical direction ...

no concept of forcing starters or energy settings or things like that. from what i can tell.
though one of the special abilities is Third Down Stopper ...

That would make sense. But it's also obvious that common sense is extremely lacking in the creators of our fabled GLB.
