The best ads for their new games will be from retweets by people in the gaming community on twitter. Honestly I don't even believe ads do that much for games anymore unless you have tits basically falling into your lap.

That is one of the dumbest things I've heard anyone say on here.

I think he is on to something. Every game I've played on the internet, I learned of word of mouth. Unless you are spending the big bucks for an advertisement on the TV when your target demographic is watching, you just aren't hitting enough numbers to get sustained growth.

Would be kind of weird to advertise for a game over a decade old when they make a new one every year. That was a poor example.

One thing that would help would be if Bort would at least make an appearance every once in a while. Hell if he spent a half an hour a week cruising the GLB main and posting things from time to time it would at least give the impression that he cared a little bit.

Throwing all your coins into a marketing strategy for this game now is the dumbest thing I have heard. Seriously.

The example doesn't even matter. The point still remains that marketing a stagnant game that has already been mostly figured out by the community 7 years later is a bad strategy. You may reply with they should start working on this game? Sure, but they don't have the resources to put out that marketing campaign, keep these servers afloat, and hire the coders it would take to continue the advancement of their larger projects while hoping this product somehow gets better.

Him popping in to GLB1 once a week to say hooty hoo isn't going to do much for the game. If you want to see him post about Warrior General Games he has a twitter account that he has actually been somewhat active posting on about what he is up to.

Totally agree, even if you got an influx of new customers in here they would be beaten to death by the old peeps still around trying to learn the ropes, and then they'd just say f this and move along.....the only way that would work is to clean the slate.

All the pre season 5 guys all said the same thing, if you were here from the start coordinating is easy because we were spoonfed changes throughout the seasons, somebody coming in at season 30 for example i couldnt even imagine how difficult it would have been to pick that up.

I agree marketing would be a waste. Too hard to catch up to the current users.

Example was still horrible though.

You're right it wouldn't do anything for the game, but it would do something for a fair amount of users. Right now it just looks like he doesn't give a shit, which may actually be true. He doesn't need to actually care or do things like Q&As which are useless at this point. He just needs to show up once in a while.

euchrid told me Bort thinks about GLB every second of every day. It's all he talks about in their daily GLB meetings.

Not saying putting all their funds into marketing would make any sense at all. But to do nothing to try and spread word about this game is dumb as dog shit. If I built a game, I sure as hell would not solely rely on "word of mouth" to bring in new customers. Take 2 Economics classes and an Intro to Business class and you could set up a better situation than what is here.
