By repeating my own quote, stating that A WHITE PERSON (FYI: John McCain is a white man) could not say the same thing, I have confirmed over and over again that it is a double standard that exists. How is that SO fucking hard to understand? Seriously? Explain it to me. Please.

I can't handle this. Really. I can't handle this level of stupidity. I'm dead fucking serious right now; you guys are idiots.

By saying typical white person while referencing his own elderly white grandmother he was inferring that the TYPICAL (read: MAJORITY) of white people to this day harbor negative and suspicious thoughts about minorities in this country. Let's not fucking kid ourselves.

You guys can cry about it all you fucking want but you're not improving anything. Cry about the double standards of racism, reverse racism, etc. etc. It doesn't change anything you fucking babies.

I'm sick of this bullshit. You just keep talking about the problems and throwing dirt but don't address the real issues or solutions.

Get off your fucking high horses you bitches.
"Racism is wrong both ways!!"
NO, SHIT, REALLY?
"OBAMA WAS BEING A RACIST!!"
Pleeeeaaassseee.

I missed that, thanks for deigning to answer it again, oh mighty intellect.

Also, I'm not accusing Obama of being a racist, so your strawman argument fails.

And I think you SHOULD be able to say that most white people harbor negative and suspicious thoughts about minorities. That's how you see the world and I think PC people who think you can't say that aloud are stupid. I also think minorities harbor negative and suspicious thoughts about white people. The only people I have a problem with are people who think you can say the former but not the latter. You can't solve race relations by giving one side a free ticket to say anything and the other side a gag order, as I'm sure you'd agree.

Oh and if you'd quit with the hysteria, that'd be great. Nobody else is doing the online equivalent of jumping around shouting ranting and raving. Just you. If you want an intelligent discussion, maybe that's the type of discussion you should contribute as well.

It's not happening here. A genuine discussion is never going to happen. No one listens to each other, they just want to bash the other guy or say their piece.

I repeated that same line regarding Obama's comment twice, attempting to draw extreme attention to it, and you still managed to ignore it totally.

I didn't say you were attempting to call Obama a racist, that comment was directed towards Hutchin's inflammatory attacks.

"You can't solve race relations by giving one side a free ticket to say anything and the other side a gag order, as I'm sure you'd agree."

As you're sure I'd agree -- have you read anything I've said in the last half a dozen posts?

This is the core of the issue here. I absolutely ABHOR the game hutchins is trying to play. It's pointless at best and genuinely divisive.
With that said, I'm taking my ball and going home. This is a stupid fucking game.

Fair enough. I'll let this thread die. It sounds like most of your issues aren't with me, and I'm not really enjoying it that much anymore either.

I want to discuss what we can do to fix these issues and others. In regards to the race issue -- what is at the heart of the problem? I think a lot of it has to do with the natural inequality that still stems from the conception and history of our country. Black communities and schools still are not as well equipped as their white/suburban counterparts. We have to fix the infrastructure to make it work. Blacks resenting whites for things they had no control over, whites resenting blacks for having to share the guilt those in the past with the same ethnicity were culprits. It's unfair on both sides. The only way we can fix it is to figure out what both sides want -- better education, better health care, a better future in general for ourselves, children and so forth. Once we agree to this we can move onto the specifics of the issues. How do we improve the schools? How do we spread and improve health care? Social security? Medicare? Etc.

EDIT:
But, that isn't happening here. So, time to bow out before I get anymore upset with humanity and the country.

I'm 100% in agreement.

One of the biggest problems is one of voting by "brand". People seem to care more about saying something about themselves with their vote rather than weighing the issues.

This is why there is so much money spent on marketing candidates. This season the Obama brand is Apple and the McCain brand is the PC. That is the level on which most people will be voting... though they will never admit it.

Wow...the wheels really flew off the cart in here, and the cart is still somehow speeding downhill towards the cliff. As zany as Admerylous is most of the time I have to *cringe* agree with him here. You guys are skipping right over the issues of the election and concentrating on shit that isn't going to get us anywhere. There are trust issues on both sides of the racial divide. Hooray, we get it. Please move along.

With eight days left till the election I don't think anyone is going to be convinced to switch sides. A very good friend of mine and I have been having our own little debate - he on the left and I on the right. While we don't agree on much, we did agree on this statement he made:

"You know, one thing I'm starting to really dislike about our elections is the polarization of the country...we all think our party is 100% right and the other is 100% wrong and we are unwilling to budge..."

The Apple and PC comparison is great. Apple is great for just goofing around or making pretty graphics, but if you want to get some real work done you need a PC. Yeah, I'll be voting PC.

Agree 100% with this statement. If people would only use independent judgment and think through the issues instead of blindly picking a party and defending it to the end, politics in this country might actually get somewhere. Of course, that kind of thinking could give rise to third parties, so the major parties would much rather have people turn off their brains and toe the party line, thank you very much.

It's cantstop and hutchins, actually. They won't be able to vote for McCain in the upcoming election now.

Yeah I saw that. It really pisses me off, not just because of how stupid and insane some people are, but also because it trivializes people who object to Obama's policies. Reasonable white people have reasonable objections to Obama's policies, just like reasonable black people have reasonable objections to McCain's policies; we're not all a bunch of racist psychos. But this will only help Obama's election changes.

It's the same effect as the McCain chick being carved into at an ATM would have had, except that was fake (thank god) and sadly this is real.

That was proven to be a fake?

I had lots of McCain supporters send me that link to show me how insane I must be for supporting Obama, as if he mugged the woman himself. When I went and looked at her face it looked like a total hoax. I couldn't say anything out of fear of being accused of being heartless and crass (probably true).
