I think the all-out dominance we are seeing by power backs this season will decrease by around season 6 or 7 when people finally realise that power backs aren't ridiculously over-powered (no pun intended) and that you do actually need to at least soft-cap tackling for every member of you defense unless you want to see 15+ missed tackles per game when you face a power back. I think once people realise that, elusive and power backs will see around the same level of effectiveness.

Borts already said somewhere that the power backs are next to get nerfed(after this season) so if people went too crazy with that they're going to be hating life next season.

This season is the year of the power back. Last season, speed backs seemed to dominate. See: Tea Baggins.

I believe he actually said the opposite, that he wouldnt nerf them, and the defenders would have to get their strength and tackling up. (but don't quoute me, just what i heard)

Ummm, Tea Baggins only dominated sub-average teams.

For the record, there is a big difference between a speed back and an elusive back.

My elusive is doing well in an A league as a back up. Elusive seemed to get the short end of the stick with the updates because the pitch was nerfed and power still dominates

My power back, Cecil Collins, is doing pretty well for himself out in Oceania AAA#2. He's playing well above his level and he wasn't really getting any carries at all until we got desperate and the GM's started him against what was a 9-1 team at the time. 12 carries and 78 yards later we win in upset fashion 26-23. Since then, Cecil has put up 41 carries, 248.5 yards, 6 TD's and a 6.1 average and the Devils have gone from 3-6 to 7-6. Not the most impressive stats, but I'm playing above my level. Anyway, this leads to my conclusion.

One thing that I think gets overlooked with having both a power back and an elusive/combo back is the fact that power backs likely wear down defenders considering they have greater strength than them and probably meet with high impact. This leaves tired defenders trying to stop the elusive/combo guys who will run circles around them. It's like power backs open up the offense entirely. It has for us, at least.

I agree completely, however you could do the same with two power backs or a power and combo. The important aspect of what you said is that the power back wears the defense out. If you've got a strong blocking TE, strong receivers, and a physical line, that power back's going to be teeing off on LB's all game, and they WILL get worn out. Some teams have combated it with strong depth, but in the meantime it'll still be effective. Either way a 50 strength LB getting hit by an 85 strength RB or FB is going to decimate his energy after a few plays.
