http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=238305No matter what, a FB will always play second fiddle to an equally proficient HB... the reason is because as a FB our running plays don't really benefit from lead blocking.
That doesn't mean a FB can't have success rushing the rock, but it's inefficient to use one as a primary runner unless he's in the role of 2nd/3rd HB and the back-up FB is a blocking build. We have a role as the tough yardage back and for the occasional carry, but we're most efficiently used as a lead blocker.
My owner keeps feeding me the rock and I keep telling him to stop it. Against a solid team, my YPC is 1+ yards less than the HBs (because I don't have myself lead blocking for my runs). It's fun to have lots of rushing yards and all, but once we play real opponents, giving me the ball excessively will mean defeat.
I guess my point is that an equal level and equally well-built HB, is better for running the ball than a FB. It doesn't mean that we cannot run the ball effectively, it's just that HBs are generally more effective at it.
