Alex, the only reason I try to make such a strong stance, is until recently in every "build suggestions" thread, you'd have 3 people responding that they need to soft-cap vision, which is rediculous.

I try to make my opinion/stance very clear, because I am sure alot of people have had their builds seriously fucked up due to them asking for advice, and getting responses by people who donno wtf they are talking about...

Not to mention you don't even disagree with me, lol.

I mean your route is pre set (Unless there are option routes in this game? No way to know that.) so I dont really buy the finding the hole in the defense thing so much, because when do you ever actually see a receiver here settle down into a zone? I think vision just helps you see the ball sooner and avoid drops mostly, so if you can see the ball you are fine.

...so what would by your suggestion for the build of the receiver shown?

Honestly I don't see much wrong with the build. Maybe more stamina, agility + speed possibly, or maybe he just doesn't fit the style of play the team uses.

Person above me: No I like your posts. They are usually well thought out and true for the most part. Like I said I"ve never even seen a guy with soft capped vision at receiver. It's a stat (like I said) add to it when you don't have much to add to but once it's at 30 you should be fine. Unless you return kicks maybe.

Double edit: Plus how can someone with a Sonic avatar be bad? lol

Same team different WR.

Physical Attributes Football Skills
Strength: 10 Blocking: 12.81
Speed: 78.57 Tackling: 7
Agility: 49.03 Throwing: 7
Jumping: 25.02 Catching: 40.28
Stamina: 33.47 Carrying: 20.5
Vision: 28.24 Kicking: 10
Confidence: 20.5 Punting: 10
Special Abilities
Possession Receiver Abilities
22000
Speedster Abilities
53111

This guy has not produced much either. The first WR has 16 catches and this WR has 13 catches. Any thoughts on this guy?

Alex, you mentioned that a WR may not fit a Style of play, what do you mean? I know there are different offenses and schemes in actual football, but isn't a pass play a pass play on GLB?

I mean you could be throwing a lot of deep balls to a guy who can't get seperation down the field. Or maybe you are throwing a bunch of really short passes to a really speedy player who is dropping them and/or isn't getting down the field after the catch.

Stuff like that.

Agility is KEY for getting open and I believe speed is a big factor as well. Don't believe me? Look at Bort's post in the announcements:

"Agile WR's don't have a way to fake out equally agile CB's and get open. I'm increasing the effect of the head fake and juke SA's, and adding some reduced reaction time for defenders based on vision and agility and coverage distance. The result is that on some plays the CB will stay with the WR and on others he will not make the turn with the receiver until a split second too late. This effect also comes into play when receivers make quick cuts."

Note the emphasis on agility all throughout the post, he starts off talking about WR and CB agility, then talks about agility based special abilities (quick cut, head fake, juke) the he talks about the CB having a delay based on vision/agility. Seems strange to me Bort would make a post about changing how WRs get open and talk almost exclusively about agility if agility is REALLY important.

Something that can be inferred based on what is said about vision is that it helps players see when the ball is released so they can make their break on it. If that is true then vision would help your WR react to the throw as soon as possible. That is subject to debate. What isn't subject to debate is that first step, route running, quick cut, head fake and juke all help you get open as a WR and head fake/juke require high agility.
