good FS can play the run as well last season my FS was stopping pitches for 4-5 yards and you want alot of PDs for a FS as well

My FS plays a lot in de Cover-1 mode and indeed as long there is no deep pass you just stands there "covering".

FS is NOT a glamour position. FS is the last guy, the goalie, the only thing coach left back, the last hope etc

FS is not ment to get a lot of interceptions or forced fumbles. Good FS with a brain can make a great tackle on the LOS - but that's not his job!

FS is the guy who deflects the deep passes, makes sure tackles and prevents disaster. Whenever FS is called to do his thing, DC should curse his LBs/CBs (and maybe, just maybe give a little praise to the guy who's only tackle of the game was worth 7 points).

So, build your guys for the job and do it. Dont expect anyone to notice it when you save the game, maybe the whole season with a nice wrapup tackle. It's a rough job, but you chose to be a FS.

why would you not want interceptions from your FS

An interception requires you to be between the QB and the WR. If you miss it, there's no one left to prevent a TD.
Now, there are times you have a really good chance and you should go for it, but getting the interception is CBs job. He can take the chance, because he has a FS downfield ready to salvage the situation when it goes all wrong.

It's not called "safety" for nothing. You are supposed to play it safe and sure.

What I have found out that with enough vision, speed and agility, the FS can make a play anywhere on the field, granted the opponents sucked.

Check out the reaction time on these plays:

One of the happier points in the career of your FS, I am sure

It's true though, as FS progresses, getting involved in the "regular" plays becomes more important.

Vision - to know where the threat is (and when to abandon your post as the last guy)
Speed - to get there in time
Agility - to deal with the unexpected changes

+1...its so true that nobody seems to notice when we make the big plays. no matter how many times you saved the game nobody cares...

+3 other TD saving tackles and not even a "good game" in the forums. granted we lost, but it would have been a blowout without those tackles.

Those last two plays are amazing! I cant believe no one noticed.

Not only did your FS know where and how the play was going, but he actually knew which side of the blocker the RB was going to dash!

Spoken like someone who used to play FS in the real world.

Yeah, my GM is running a LOT of Cover 1, so the FS is out of the play on pretty much every play.

In three games, I have 1 tackle and 3 PD.

That's it.

I'm a SS playing FS, and I'm getting a ton of snaps, but all he ever does is drop back 20 yards and chill. It's so damn frustrating/boring, but we're 3-0 so I'm not gonna complain.

Well, I'll complain here. IT F&%^ING SUCKS.

Damn. Caught me.
Lets face it, there's something really cool about being under valued and very important. Something about glory of humility or some such crap.
Takes a special person (idiot?) to enjoy it.

That's season 3 knowledge. Don't spread it around anymore!

Right now it is:

Vision - to know where to get
Speed & Agility - to get there in time
strength & tackling - to be useful once you get there
