This list is whacked. Needs Waaaaay more Canton. Laoks should be owner of the year.

All this shows us is who put up the most numbers and got the most attention. Props to the guys on the list! Honestly there is just something that makes one guy a performer and another not so much. But this list doesn't even come close to reflect how important individual players were to their respective organizations.

A guy like HB Mike Igoe for Canton who boosted early and started most of the season and then conceded his starting spot in the playoffs while still putting up 218 and a TD at 3.5 a touch. 1200+ yards and 8 TD throughout our 20 game season. I'd love to see him on this list but I completely understand why Elvis Rhodes is on the list instead. That's why we didn't vote for our own guys.

Unlike the real Pro Bowl where I'd imagine guys would kill to get those type of guys. I would take Mike Igoe over Elvis because of what he did/does for us in our scheme. No need to hate on player recognition IMO though. Canton is a team not a collaboration of individuals.

Obviously everyone is going to think SOMEONE they know got slighted.

Instead of picking it apart, we should be thanking the OP for taking the time to do this.

And the real pro bowl is no less biased/based on stats

It's a lot easier for an owner to simply vote based on statistics and some half-assed analysis. This is particularly true for the defensive secondary and linemen. Without people who get paid to study every single play, who is matched up vs. who, who won each battle in a dominant fashion, and who did this the most often (with and without landing the stat sheet) the results are always going to be debatable with a whole lot of bias.

Because nobody here is really recognized as a league "insider" or "expert", pro bowl voting is always going to be a popularity contest comprising of four very debatable factors:

1) The superficiality of the voters (are they really looking at matchups, plays in the game, etc. e.g. if a cornerback never gets thrown at because they've completely locked down their target, they'll likely garner no affection from a superficial voter)

2) The delta of #1. What kind of stats someone puts up.

3) GMs putting a player in a position to not succeed to their potential, or to put up artificially boosted stats (e.g. a great RB forced to share a ton of time with some poorly built backups, wonky sub patterns, a run heavy team that has synched their Oline/HB stamina so the average is somewhat artificially boosted, etc.).

4) The record of the team they're on. This is kind of an X factor. It's really easy to ignore a linebacker who put up 200 tackles in a season who plays for a bad team because it's easy to assume that they were on the field 75% of the game. It's easy to vote for a kicker returner who had a handful of TDs because of they had the most opportunities and their GM had the depth to actually field a strong special teams unit. It's easy to completely overlook a stud cornerback on a bad team who consistently shut down other team's top WRs.

I don't put too much stock in this process from an empirical standpoint, but it's fun and interesting nonetheless.
