Yeah, I've been trying to do the playoff math. There's an excellent shot someone is going to go 9-7 in the East and still not make it. Potentially more than one.

It's very likely that scenario will happen. Pretty much the only guarantees when it comes to the playoffs is that 9 losses and you are out, 10 wins and you are in. 8 or 9 wins and you are leaving things up to tiebreakers and other assorted crazyness

What is the tiebreaker for the playoffs?

PLEASE read the dilemma below with 3 teams tied at 9-7

Outlaws beat Atlanta and New Hampshire but lost to Vice City and Gulf State

Predicted finishes:
Atlanta 9-7
New Hampshire 10-6
Vice City 9-7
Gulf State 8-8

Current Standings:

1 *New Brunswick Scarlet Knights 14-0
2 *New York Strikers 13-1
3 *Miami Makos 11-3
4 *Akron Browns 9-5
5 *Salem Cyber Hawks 9-5
6 Atlanta Wolves 8-6
7 *New Hampshire Hustlers 8-6
8 Gulf State Demons 7-7
9 Vice City Mambas 7-7
10 Detroit Outlaws 7-7

Projected finishes:

1 *New Brunswick Scarlet Knights 16-0
2 *New York Strikers 15-1
3 *Miami Makos 13-3
4 *Salem Cyber Hawks 11-5
5 *Akron Browns 10-6
6 *New Hampshire Hustlers 10-6
7 Vice City Mambas 9-7
8 Detroit Outlaws 9-7
9 Atlanta Wolves 9-7
10 Gulf State Demons 8-8

SO, at best the Outlaws could be the 8th seed.

**** However, Atlanta beat vice city, vice city beat the outlaws and the outlaws beat Atlanta ****

It is not possible for the Makos to go 13-3 and the Hustlers to go 10-6, we have them next.
If we win, we play the Shadowblades for a playoff berth. We lose, and we need to beat the Shadowblades to enter the 9-7 playoff tiebreaker scrum.

It gets worse - Akron has maybe the least enviable remaining schedule in the league. 9-7 is likely barring a big upset, which puts them in the tangle.

If Gulf State beats the Cyberhawks, it puts them in a likely spot to finish 9-7, and makes it conceivable the Cyberhawks could also finish 9-7, though they do have the enviable position of only needing 1 win to be in.

It remains possible for Atlanta, Salem, Akron, Gulf State, Detroit, Vice City and New Hampshire to all be 9-7 at season's end, with 5 playoff spots to split. Go figure that one out.

Meanwhile, NHH lost to Salem, Detroit, Akron and Atlanta, but beat Vice City and Gulf State - who beat some of the others.

Am I looking at this wrong?

If we (Gulf State) win against Salem that puts us in the play offs.?. We hold the tie breaker advantage against SWBM and Vice City because we beat them. The OOC game shouldn't factor in should it? But if it does then we beat Salem and beat the Red Devils from the west we are in...???

If you beat Salem, we'll help you out and beat them too.

As long as we're out, might as well be a spoiler.

Yes. You need to win-out to guarantee a spot. If you win tomorrow, but lose the OOC game, Vice City and Detroit can both pass you with two wins. The OOC game does count.

The only way anyone clinches that last spot is for Gulf State to win and Vice City and Detroit to both lose. If that doesn't happen, it goes to the last game of the season.

going a little far with the predictions there. You never know if the strikers could be upset. They only won by 23 against the Hammer Heads

That's not a prediction.

Mathematically, both can guarantee home field advantage through the conference finals. NB would have to lose to Houghton and Lima and New York has to win out. Admittedly this is a next to impossible as there's no way Houghton beats NB, but it's still possible.

Yes, but if N.H. loses today and wins Saturday, then the math gets trickier, because we beat Vice City and you guys, so we should win tie breakers there, but we lose tie breakers to Salem, Akron, Atlanta and Detroit.

In almost any scenario between 9-7 teams, the tie breakers are so muddled that it will go to 2nd tiebreakers somewhere. Because of the potential of us losing to the Makos, and having those tie-breakers, even if Vice City and the Demons win out, there's no gurantees.

If we win today and beat the Shadowblades, we're in. If Salem wins one more, they're in. If Akron pulls either of 2 huge upsets, they're in. After that it gets confusing.

LOL

I'm not even trying to figure this mess out.

I'm focused on winning our last two games, the rest is out of our control now. Thats all anyone can do at this point.

Good Luck guys.
