I'm with the Vendetta in the West conference.

Personally, I think the ranking is fairly accurate. I've been watching the East, just as I did last season when I was very vocal about their inequities. The East is markedly improved this season. For instance, I posted the WarKittens were a much improved team, and they've exceeded even my expectations. The East is very dangerous.

Meanwhile, no offense intended, but teams 7-16 in the West don't scare me much. Last season only teams 15 & 16 didn't scare me much. I feel like a lot of teams rested on their laurels. The Voodoo are a perfect example. A team I was down on at the beginning of this season, and people thought I was crazy.

The East didn't like all the slams they took last season, though they were deserved, so they went and did something about it. No, I'd be very careful about calling out the East this season.

Thanks, but I decided against feeding the flame.

Hoax, you know I have respect for you. It's not so much that we disagree. I misread your intentions too.

I agree your team should probably be higher, and will probably end the season higher. I was speaking towards the whole of the two conferences.

Agreed. The east DID deserve the slams they took last season, & i said as much. However, both to my chagrin & surprise, many of them did something about it, and I can have a better appreciation for what it was like in the west last season. The fact that the seatings are so close this season will also mean that many teams will not have the luxury of just sitting on game 16 like they could last season.

What i don't get from hoax is why he can't simply be satisfied knowing your not the 11th best team? If you're better than 11, then why do you need a poll to confirm it? God knows i'd probably lose at least 3 games if i took the rating my team had at face value.

However, I think that there are at least two things that we can all agree upon universally, the first, that this sort of discussion, despite our various misunderstandings, is more entertaining than the alternative, and the second, that the rankings should be taken as one mathematical possibility, in a game that most of us like due to the fact that mathematical probability can so often be overturned.

Also.. I'm only just now beginning to realize how quiet it's gotten over there. It hadn't really hit me until i started to think how often you guys were visiting our threads, much like I did to your threads last season. I used to think it was just because you were bored.. but now i'm starting to see it's because there's less of an alternative.

You want to consolidate the Post Game Lobby & have one of you guys do the West?

East and West really should give it their all during scrimmages this end-season. Maybe make the owners sign "no excuses" waivers.

That would be nice to do, however keep in mind that we will more than likely have the Offense/Defense AI features to tink with, so there will still be a learning curve regardless.

Problem there is the teams that "give their all" are usually playing playoff games. That said, I still agree. I think there's more to be lost in throwing games than in trying to win them. Playing the Voodoo in our scrimmage game was the catalyst to a lot of this years changes. (thanks JackyD).. man.. now i miss 30Rock..

Word is with the new AI's coming into play, Bort may have some scrimmage games after the season and playoffs to help all teams get familiar with the new systems.

Look, like I said from the beginning (a post I made about a week ago or so), this formula is VERY basic. Does not include a Strength of Schedule (but I am working on something, but I need to do VBA in my excel and I haven't worked with that before). So it won't be till sometime next season that I have more of an accurate Power Rankings Formula. Today or tomorrow, I'll post how the formula works, but this is something better than nothing and I'm not pick teams out of my butt, it's all excel based and if you want to see how it works I'd be more than happy to e-mail it to you. Just let me know!

I enjoy the criticism, trust me, this is nothing compared to my EE AA#3 league! So bring it bitches!

Well, this was just a guess by me, but I think it would be a great idea.

its just funny, because the bottom half of the east is garbage. so the top half runs up the score on them, and that makes 5 of the top 7 teams from the east? laughable. there is obviously a flaw in your formula. just saying. maybe 2 of the top 7 teams are from the east. maybe.

What and some of the teams at the bottom of the west aren't "garbage"? Relax anyway, it's rankings from a formula. The only way we'll be able to compare conferences is on cross conference match day.

he has a point I would love to see a division format with cross-conference play like in the NFL

right.. i figured i was pretty tame, i could have been a lot worse on a bad day. i didnt think youd take it too personally. i want to see a good accurate rankings as much as anyone, if not more. but when any 10-1 team has beaten an 8-3 team and the 8-3 team is ranked higher.. just doesnt make sense to me.

sanderval did have a point though, rankings wont dictate play. so its not that big of a deal. would just like to see my guys get a little peer recognition. after starting the season off 3-9 last year, weve turned it around to 11-1 this season. im really proud of this team, and recognition or not, were going to be a force anyway.

I tried to keep an eye on the west last year & i don't think it's any stretch to say that the Heat are vastly improved.
