It's disappointing that there is no pure strip sack VA. But I guess it would get abused if there was.

Big Sack works. Add it at the end build if your guy is getting a lot of sacks. If you're not getting sacks, then I wouldn't touch it. You will need to add a piece for +Force Fumble% AEQ to help out. Monster Hit and Big Hit do not work against QB's so don't touch those.
The problem with forcing fumbles is that (obviously) your team won't recover the fumbles every time. In fact, when the QB fumbles, it seems like the offense will recover most of those. I don't have evidence to back that up. Just what I've noticed.

That's what I was afraid of. A pass rushing LB seems more effective than a DE. From the games I've seen the first step is more explosive for a LB.

What helps LB's is the space they generally have between them and any blockers. This allows them to use Vision to to go AROUND, or engage their VA's, SA's, or Agility so they can get around the blockers much more easily than a D-Lineman can. Most all O-linemen seem to always pick up the D-line in blocks... if only for a moment... leaving those LB's free to get past.
And, I don't know this for an exact truth but I've always suspected that the Penalties also cause issues with the D-linemen. Since they're the ONLY ones who get hit with a 'off sides', therefore they must first pass a 'penalty check' before they can proceed to their next 'check'... whereas LB's, Safeties, and CB's can simply GO right from the start.

Head of Steam and Disguise Blitz helps pass rush LB's , does not help DE's

great advice in this thread so far.
Regarding the strip sack thing, the problem is that you don't get to customize your tackling aggressiveness based on who you are tackling. So if you set to POWER tackling to try to cause fumbles on QBs, you will miss a ton of tackles on RBs, and thus defeat the purpose of trying to even pretend to be decent against the run. You could go with a piece of force fumble % instead of shed block, get some Big Sack, and hope for the best, but I agree with the others...DE sacks are tough enough to get already, and in the rare occasion that you get a sack and cause a fumble, the OL jumps on it the vast majroity of the time. I would not recommend trying for fumbles with a pass-rush specialist.
Also, the build Bane laid out, while effective, really is a pure pass-rusher. He definitely will struggle in the run game versus top teams. And I agree that I think that's what you're looking for, but just wanted to be clear, especially since the game is becomign more run-heavy at the top tiers. If you're looking for a guy who is pass-focused but is okay against the run, I'd probably take 15 equipment points from speed and shift them to strength, so that you're around a 100-115-120 build (strength/speed/agility)

I completely agree with what you saying here, except the part "definitely will struggle in the run game versus top teams"
This dot averaged less than 2 MT's a game last season while getting 94 tackles. In no other season before that did he average even 1 MT a game http://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/player.pl?player_id=4375068. He also has less Tackle attribute than the build I posted.... I know any missed tackle is bad, but they gonna happen. And I can't say thatdot has played against "top teams", but he hasn't really struggled against the run either. But yes, he is a pure pass rusher with the intent of not being a total liability against the run... and most teams run a lot more than pass these days..therefore getting more Strength would definitely be more beneficial against the power run game.

So basically what I am asking for is a pipedream? It is nearly impossible in the game to have a pass rusher be stout against the run and force fumbles on a QB.

well what you can do is be lvl79 but only ever play on RegionalPro teams, then you might get what you are looking for

You can't be a great pass rusher and a STOUT run defender. I guess it depends what you mean by stout. You don't want to be a liability and your DC can use you to disrupt outside runs and screens. However, you will need support for plays up the middle were power backs run at you. You'll want enough strength to not get pancaked often.
Also, I think I forgot to mention that the Power Tackler VA will help force fumbles against the QB. However, you cannot be on wrap-up tackling for the fumble portion of the VA to kick in and that will cause you to miss more tackles on run plays.
