The true answer to the OP is GLB1 is much better than GLB2 and all of the users on GLB1 are pretty competitive for the most part, but a lot of the guys who can't hack it spend most of the day complaining about how bad the game is.

But it is more competitive than it has ever been I think, although most everything is common knowledge to this point, so finding a knowledgeable user to help you is definitely the right path, and I think if you have left over flex points and wanting something to screw around with at night that doesn't qualify as cheating on the wife that won't put out then this is a good spot.

This. And If you've ever been addicted to GLB Classic, which you have with your team "30 Seasons ago", GLB2 PROBABLY isn't gonna fit well with you.

I don't see you complaining all that much, tbh.

It'll last as long as it lasts. Could be a few seasons or tens of seasons. No one knows. Game is fine. Gloom and doom has been part and parcel of GLB forums since around S3 or so. Play and enjoy it if you care to or don't. I'd suggest playing it, but others - who still do - will disagree. Just par for the course!

I do get your point about "Gloom and doom has been part and parcel of GLB forums since around S3 or so," and that's very true. However, in S3, the number of new dots and new users was growing at a ridiculous pace, and it continue to grow for a long time after that, which made the Gloom And Doom crowd look idiotic back then.

Today, however... things are different. And with the number of new dots and new users now shrinking at a ridiculous pace, now it's the The Game Is Fine crowd's turn to look idiotic.

That said, I'm still playing GLB1, and I'm still enjoying GLB1.

However, if a brand new player came along and was trying to decide whether or not to spend money on this game, I'd be remiss if I told them, "Sure! Go ahead! Buy a Hall Of Fame package, because this game is going to last for at least another 7 years." Bort and company have clearly checked out on GLB1 and are putting all of their focus on GLB0 and their other games, and the player totals in this game are suffering as a result.

Now, if someone looks at that situation and decides, "Fuck it, I still think this game looks fun, and I'm gonna spend money on it while it's still up and running," I'm not going to tell them not to. I'll welcome them in, and I'll try to help them have fun. But I'm not going to turn a blind eye to the truth about this game's near-term future, and I'm not going to lie to people and tell them I think GLB1's future is bright when I don't think that at all.

In my defense, I didn't start the "gloom and doom" shit until after about S11 or so when I saw a lot of people start leaving after their first dots cycled through.

Switching from the pyramid structure to the cloud really masked a lot of this, tbh. It's not as if this just started in the last year or anything. The cloud allowed Bort to get rid of shitloads of leagues without it being overly noticeable to those that weren't paying attention.

We're definitely still here, still working on new stuff you guys (well, some of you guys) are going to like.

a professional marketing campaign would definitely be "new stuff" ... your current users would like that ...
and typically , a business will die if the execs steal all the profits and don't re-invest
