What about accelerating the build process again, or insta 79's. Is Bort open to anything along those lines?

That's not going to bring in new users though. New people aren't going to want to join and drop 80 bucks on a player that will likely suck. The only thing that will do is make current users burn through all of their flex and get bored of the game in a month.

I never said it would bring in new users (I'm pretty sure that ship has sailed) but it would give the users currently here a reason to stick around.

Speaking for myself, I'm not planning to build any more dots from scratch. (the process is just too long and drawn out at this point.) but I know I would be willing to spend a bunch more money if the building process was accelerated or insta 79's were implemented.

Balance adjustments at the lower levels, in an attempt to get the new people to stick around? Maybe start with reviewing the rate at which the "low level passing bandaid" falls off?

Rookie is fine - if not tilted a bit to passing, Prep feels well balanced. late Univ + beyond - passing drops off like a rock and every team resorts to slam ball (tm) and screen passing heavily. I'd love to see those levels through the minors, get watchable for anyone who owns anything other than a power back again ...

Statistics from the MLF:
Rookie (S34): 2630 completions, 4275 attempts, 22786 yards. 61.5% completion rate, 5.33 yd/att. 169 TD, 3 Int.
Prep (S35): 2921 completions, 5823 attempts, 23280 yards. 50.2% completion rate, 4.00 yd/att. 113 TD, 29 Int.
Univ (S36): 2235 completions, 5113 attempts, 18151 yards. 43.7% completion rate, 3.55 yd/att. 82 TD, 45 Int.
Rookie (S37): 1764/3019, 15672yds. 57.6% comp. 41 Sack/156yds. 5.07 yd/att. 118 TD, 1 Int.
Prep (S38): 4391/8969, 40703yds, 47.5% comp. 276 Sack/1278yds. 4.26 yd/att. 211 TD, 46 Int.
Univ (S39): 3121/6823, 27100yds, 43.9% comp. 287 Sack/1359yds. 3.62 yd/att. 142 TD, 65 Int.

Season 39, Elite leagues:
Prep #1 - 4.31 y.att. 51.6% comp rate. (10876/21064, 100417yds, 815 TD, 86 Int, 1053 Sack / -5149y)
Univ #1 - 3.59 y/att. 46.7% comp rate. (9029/19302, 83957yds, 700 TD, 164 Int, 1515 Sack / -8817y)
R Minors #1 - 3.08 y/att. 41.7% comp rate. (7413/16010, 65198yds, 463 TD, 171 Int, 1730 Sack / -10569y)

The #'s seem pretty consistent - the sharp drop off continues as you move up, and only comes back really once dots have the "fake" game working via VAs, AEQ, SAs, etc. once people start loading up on SAs + finishing their builds at high 60s+.

So short of the insta-79 thing, which seems like it could very well back fire like you mentioned ... maybe looking at improving the first X days of a dot's career ... make that part of the game not scare folks away? *shrug*

I love GLB1 ... and I think some focus on getting new folks in would be great, but making those first 120-160 days help them STICK would be a better focus. My 2 cents, YMMV.

What kind of action do you want, besides having us swap teams between leagues midseason?

No, I don't want you to swap teams between leagues midseason.

For starters, though, I'd like some consistency: don't tell a #9 8-8 team that they're not allowed to promote up while you're promoting up the #10 7-9 team right below them, for example.

And for the love of pete, when something like that happens and a user complains about it, don't act like the complainer is the problem. A simple apology goes a long way. A refusal to give that simple apology goes a lot further... and leads to customers getting... what was the word you used in that other thread? I think it was "jaded."

Also, try fixing minor-but-annoying bugs when people ask for them to be fixed, instead of trying to fob off nonsense explanations.

GLB1 is still nowhere near being a finished product, and there's plenty of small improvements that could be made all over the place. Take a stroll through Suggestions and try implementing a few of them instead of abandoning the game while telling us every 5 minutes how much you and Bort still care about it.

I still like this game and would spend more money on it if I knew it would stay around. But when admins say things about learning to accept death, it kinda puts a damper on that. It's stupid stuff like that that will kill of this game because everyone is afraid to put any money into it now since it takes so long to get a return on it. That wouldn't be as much a problem if we knew the game would be here for the possible payoff in the end. I'm sitting on a gutted team right now that I intended to restart this coming season, but I haven't made effort 1 to do so because of that comment I referenced above.

In that light, why the hell should we believe deathdog and the like when those more senior to him are saying cryptic things that people interpret as: "GLB1 will go away?"

I fear we are in a vicious cycle that can't be stopped because the powers that be have lost their credibility in that department.

there's 2 ways to stay in business. bring in new customers, and retain old ones. right now glb could easily get rid of half the leagues because there are no players, and there's no way to get more players as people retire players. i've long thought that people should be able to sell players to other agents instead of retiring them. its mostly just network teams building players now and when those teams fold, a whole bunch of players retire instead of moving to new teams. i saw it just a few days ago when a team lost their player game, they had 54 players. team went cpu and the next day only 39 players remained. thats a mid level team and those players cant be replaced. and at some point, something needs to be done to make certain positions (o-line, safety, cb, bte) more attractive to build. glb's business model seems to be to drive every one away except a few big spenders.

more players = more teams = more players = more money

Instant 79's does nothing BUT appease big spenders and people that want to burn through their remaining flex ASAP. Most other people aren't going to be making it rain hundred dollar bills to make players.

There would basically be a huge influx of players (while killing all non-pro leagues), then as soon as that round of players retires the game would thoroughly die.

Instant 79's is a last ditch effort to the game unless you are adding more to player building on top of that.
