If I can take a team to WL, this game is in the shitter.

I think there are maybe 20 or so teams left in GLB that came up with BEEF from Rookie to Pro and I want to say that was easily the best group I have been a part of as far as competition goes in the cloud.

I mean it definitely shows as a lot of them made WL within the last couple seasons now or have been thoroughly knocking on the door.

You say that like it's a good thing. My top team, the Palm Bay Palookas, started in Season 32, and there were 6 full Rookie leagues that season. 7 seasons later, there's only 3 Rookie leagues, and they're not even full. That means that in 7 seasons, the number of new Rookie teams being started has been cut in half.

WHAT?!? What the hell makes you think 75% of those teams are going to stick together?
Again, I'll point to the Palm Bay Palookas... when they hit Semi Pro 2 seasons ago, Season 37, there were 3 leagues: Elite, Competitive, and Terribad. But only Elite and Comp were full... Terribad only had a couple of human teams in it, and the rest were CPU-owned. And remember... that batch of teams started out with 6 full Rookie leagues. So, over the course of 5 seasons, only slightly more than a third of the teams that started at the same time as my Palookas were still in existence 5 seasons later. And a decent chunk of those remaining teams ended up folding later.
You're gonna be lucky to see 25% of the current batch of Rookie teams survive to reach the top... nowhere near 75%. 25% of 80 teams is 20 teams... barely enough to fill a conference, not enough to fill a league.
.....
Now, I happen to be in the camp that thinks GLB isn't dead yet... still plenty of people playing at the moment, and I think there's enough die-hards around to keep this thing going a bit longer. But 'round 'bout Season 46 or 47 or so, the survivors from this season's batch of Rookie teams are gonna get to Natty Pro. That'll only be about 20 teams, nowhere near enough to replace the teams and dots that are going to be hitting decline and retiring about that time. That's when things will start collapsing, a little over a year from now.
And to be honest, I'm probably optimistic with that projection. It could happen sooner if people start bailing out early.

Novus, meh. Most of the peeps still around have some idea what they are doing tbh which means more rookie+ team stability so I can't see 25% at all. Also 5 years of player playeau, mean even if your extremely conservative prediction, we'd still have 100 (20*5) plateau level teams, so enough for 3 leagues.
I donno about teams fulla dots sticking around for the long haul... but I DO know it's been pure hell the last 2 seasons to find dots for teams. It's really become a thing to gather enough agents with enough flex BEFORE you start... people you can count on to STAY for the entire ride... so you don't have to fight the extremely thin marketplace for replacement dots. Farm teams are becoming more popular too.
Which means, GLB has become something completely different than what those that designed it to be. Just looking at the structure I can tell that D-leagues were built for people that built dots (usually poorly) that couldn't find offers. That is no longer true. Now it's a haven for stat lovers. PeeWee was supposed to be a "beginners guide to dot building and team owing"... now it's nearly empty. And there's a lot of teams throughout GLB that are CPU. I highly suspect the founders had a much smaller number of CPU teams in mind when creating all those leagues and such.
Things I would change would be to take some financial lumps and spend on some serious web advertising... while, at the same time, reduce the cost for purchasing flex to make it much more attractive to the newcomers... AND the old members. Going by the thought that, if it's a dollar for a widget and I only sell 100 widgets a month at that price... but if I make them 50 cents and I sell 1,000 a month, even though I make less money per widget, I make more money per month... therefore more profit. Despite it's flaws and bugs and all the grumping everybody does... GLB is still a decent, fun game and could easily thrive if it went in a better direction. Just my opinion.

Team stability relies on 100% active agents. Which is incredibly tough. I went through with BEEF and we had 51 players for most of the process. Most teams when faced with the difficulty of I can't recruit someone because there are no players just decide to fold their team. It is neat to think that the pro ranks will maybe possibly have the dots to fill teams but the realistic thought is that those teams condense and condense and condense until it is just the same die hards filling up the same damn teams with the same coordinators.

So, you actually think we'll see a higher rate of Rookie team retention that what we've seen in the fairly recent past.
You're dreaming.

I mean, I get what you're trying to do, WiseIvan... the more people talk about how the game is dying, it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy, so you're trying to fight that. I get it. I really do. Noble effort.
But it's a futile effort, because you're using wildly unrealistic and optimistic numbers to try to paint a picture that we can all see is false. And by painting that picture, you're causing people to talk about how false it is... which feeds right into what you're trying to fight to begin with: people talking about how the game is dying.
You'd be much better off doing what I generally do: focus on the true fact that, right now, at this moment, there are more people still playing the game than the naysayers want to admit, which is why the game isn't dead yet, why it's still fun to play, and why there's still some hope for Bort to turn things around. However, Bort isn't going to turn things around unless he tries to turn things around. And instead, he's focusing his efforts and the efforts of his staffers on GLB2, and he seems to be perfectly willing to concede the death of GLB1 as inevitable without coming right out and saying so in public, since that would just hasten its demise and cut off his cash flow.
GLB1 is still save-able. I just wish Bort would try to save it.

I get what you guys are saying, but the last two off-seasons have been decent for me personally in regards to recruiting. I think we have the strongest Sumatra team ever right now with an effective level over 1400 for the first time. Maybe it is a fluke? Or is it easier to get a higher effective level with fewer quality dots around? Are the effective levels based on a curve?
Anyway, I am another one of the agents that is sticking with GLB 1 and I haven't really looked at GLB 2 yet.

if it didnt cost us a fortune to run teams and make dots, we could just have a league of 5 of us and just play eachother for the next 20 years.

Yeah, I was able to do some pretty good recruiting for both of my squads this past off-season too.
I continue to believe that recruiting is really, really difficult... if you don't know how to recruit.
That said, though... looking at the League page and seeing only 3 Rookie Leagues, and then realizing most of those teams will fold on their way up and thinking about what that means 7 seasons down the road... ugh.

i did a search on fs from day 80-85 at least level 29, and there are less than 7 pages of them. i did the same search for days 0-5, level 4+ and less than 9 pages. days 120-125 40+, barely 6 pages. days 160-165 49+ less than 7 pages. so FS seems somewhat consistent from level to level. fs to me seems to be the hardest to fill.
