Most people I know boost from 1 to 4 on Day 48, though of course they plan it out to take the best advantage of their ALGs. Cue jdbolick's build plan...

Basic build plan for any .5 ALG dot If going strength first then pick one pound below the maximum. If picking speed first then pick one pound above the minimum. Enhance the first attribute to 10%, train intense three times, enhance to 20%, then train intense until you have a nearly full bar at 32.9x. Convert 15 bonus tokens to a skill point and cap to 48.9x. Then boost. Next season you'll enhance to 30% and normal train, then second cap, then continue normal training, then third cap. At that point you'll unlock and enhance your attributes for multi-training. Unlock the first, second, and third attributes you plan to cap and enhance all to 30% when possible. Use the free first slot to rotate any other attributes you plan to cap eventually, enhancing each to 10%. Continue multi-training until the first attribute reaches anywhere between 90 and 100 depending upon your build plan. Skill points should be spent in the first attribute until it reaches between 73 and 85 depending upon your build plan and how many attributes you eventually need to increase.
I do know some people who prefer to stay at 1 and don't use their "Season 0" boosts. Gives them a slight advantage in the end, but it also means their dots are going to be consistently 2-3 levels behind on their way up the ladder.
I prefer to have dots that will be fun to watch on their way up and at Level 79, and dots in the second camp are only slightly better if anything, so I'm in the first camp.
But yeah, if you were in the second camp, I can see where the auto-boosts would crimp your style if they caught you unaware. But it's also kinda LOL that the OP can claim to know what he's doing build-wise and yet be unaware of that.
He didn't apply his initial SPs. Therefore his initial boosts were used when his primary was at a 1:1 SP rate versus a 1:2 SP rate. Obviously he didn't plan on boosting in the first offseason, but that wasn't his big beef. He could live with the boosts occurring had that attribute been capped.
