No one is saying that's the whole picture we don't celebrate that way.We have 7 kids and 20 grand kids and great kids and other family and friends. We lost a daughter to domestic violence back 2005 to her fiance and are raising her then 3 yr old son whom is now 13.We have a brother in law with prostate cancer and fighting and a good friend with cancer in his legs and feet that eats the skin off to the bone. They both still work and keep moving forward with great pain and yet we celebrate each and everyday they are with us in person and memory but Thanksgiving we say a prayer or 2 and give many thanks we are here again to enjoy and love so many.I was nt here when all that happened and it was very wrong but I cant fix it and I have always said the Indians should be respected for being so helpful to strangers.
We celebrate for so many reasons but not for the reasons you wrote.I love Thanksgiving for many reasons and will always to the end of my days and I think they are all for the right reasons.I hope you can.

Just gonna let this one go as we should just move on and pretend like we are not having this conversation

Fair enough...I choose not to celebrate it....you can give thanks and say prayers any day of the year...pickin' an occasion when innocent Native American Indians were slaughtered isn't 1 of them in my eyes....

Much respect. Same here.
Also don't celebrate Independence Day for reasons I wont even get into here. Don't even care about Christmas. Jesus was actually born 2-3 months before the wise men finally got there.

Screw it. I'll say why.
I'm Black. When this country was celebrating being free, Blacks were still slaves. Not what I would call free.

Dude that didn't happen on the 3rd Thursday of 1 particular November . That is not all of what that holiday is about. That's like not celebrating Christmas because it's only celebrating the birth of Christ.
Everyone knows it's also about Saint Nicholas , otherwise what was the meaning of this thread?
Thanksgiving is about giving thanks for all the joys of life. One of the biggest joys is the luxury of having a family to spend it with.
