Admins (and mods) do give a shit, hence the new long-developed forum 'style' that will roll out with the launch of GLB2. Forum rules and mod tools alike with tons of input from all parties. And based on the rule changes, far from gestapo.

(It's up to Pallow to dive into details but as discussed in public before GLB will be adopting more of a karma style forum across the board)

i think if they want glb2 (would say the same for glb1) to be successful, mods, admins, etc (anyone who receives compensation for these; even reward points); should not be able to have any connections to teams (players on them, own them, coordinate, etc). They could play on a test server and that's it.

What in the history of GLB would make anyone think this was anything but a lie? For five years we've had the same forum issues and the same problem with mods and admins, and nobody has given a shit. But now we're supposed to believe it's gonna be better in 2.0?

I'm guessing you've "fixed" the forum problems to the same extent that you've fixed the graphics problems.

Their "selection" process was a bigger joke than their mod search. Why bother to make it look legitimate when we all know the routine?

That's not relevant to this particular discussion, and its not a good idea either.

Whether the mods want to quibble with the technical term "employee" or not, its beyond question that they act as a representative of the site. Pallow has never given proper direction for a customer-retention focus in moderation, and the lack thereof hamstrung the first version of GLB and will do so with GLB2 as well if not corrected.

I've had threads locked before, but usually the mods had a legitimate reason based on the OP or the direction that the thread was going. It is the "whining about how your/someones thread got locked" threads that get locked the quickest.

If you are constantly butting heads with moderation, you get less slack cut to you than when you are always on the edge of doing or saying something that requires moderation.

The only thing that ever pisses me off is when I've typed something before it is locked, but hit post after the lock. There have been times when I have wanted to create a new thread just to post the thing I had typed, but 99% of the time I resist the urge, and the other 1% of the time I get a lock and a PM.

I've actually defended mods more than probably anyone at this site. The overall actions of the moderation staff recently has been regrettable at best.
