Even then you couldn't make the pass OL be in for 2nd & long or prevent them from being in when you want to run on 1st down.

On any other dot build, just about everyone will post that trying to build a "multi-purpose/jack-of-all-trades" dot just doesn't work as well as one built for a specific purpose. I know that trying to make a Guard that is both a Run block AND Pass block makes a shitty guard when finished. Not horrible... but dang sure not as good as it could've been. Why do people think that making a QB that can "do it all" is any different? Can they be built? Sure. Will they work? Sure. Will they ever be what the builders imagine (RBIII, Randall Cunningham, Michael Vick...)? I just seriously doubt it. Lower the expectations a little and sure you can build a dual threat you can enjoy.

If you're run blocking G can't pass protect also, I'm sorry don't build anymore OL please.

Yes, he can. Try comprehensive reading. I said as much in my post. And I still say that there is a PASS BLOCKING Archetype for that very same position FOR A REASON. If it wasn't useful, then nobody would build them or use them.
BTW, this is about dual threat QB's anyways so back on track we go.

You seem like a nice guy and I feel bad every time I point out your mistakes because my goal isn't to discourage you, but you post a lot of things that are wrong. Not legitimate differences of opinion, just wrong. "I know that trying to make a Guard that is both a Run block AND Pass block makes a shitty guard when finished" was wrong.

Ok... ya got me because I could've been more specific about that post (was trying not to write a 3 page report). But I would've thought folks would figure out what I meant. I made a guard with the run blocking archetype and gave it pass blocking SA's to help it out. Also I sacrificed Strength so I could get Agility higher. Those 2 things combined so that it did NOT work out nearly as well as building a run blocking guard and just letting him "do his thing". That build ("the do his thing build") works better than trying to create a 2 headed monster.... because all you get is a weaker dot. Better to build specific to the archetype. (IMO) As for using pass blocking VA's with a run blocking archetype... I'm currently trying that very thing right now. I suspect it will work out better than the SA route. And that's what I meant by that quote you posted.
