If you are going to add any catching, there is no reason not to take it to 80 and get catch% and int% gear. If your DC knows what they are doing (and your team doesn't add 5 more int corners), you are pretty much going to be 1 of the top 3 pick leaders.

*For CBs.

Catch% seems like a waste.

If you post this link 50 more times, maybe jed will unlock it and it will get implemented.

exactly... int% gives you the chance at the INT attempt... catching falls 2nd. You need to get a shot before you can catch it. Sticky hands > catch ball % for DB's IMO

Sticky hands is important, but not as important as the second piece of INT % AEQ.

What's that worth though if choosing a second piece of that ruled deflect ball %, avoid fake %, or make tackle % from being selected?

Question: Does the roll go "Attempt the INT roll, if you succeed, see if you can actually catch it (catching). If you can't, deflection"?

Food for thought: I totally agree that catching @ 60+ helps and obviously int% pieces augment - yet jumping, vision, agility, height, aggressive tactic setting, and coverage distance also factor into the roll.

Catching is good for defenders that want to catch. So is pretty much everything else you would think would help. Even catch ball% although that would be the last piece I'd ever want in terms of added benefit.

High numbers in catching, vision, jumping, agility plus int% and other hands related SAs and VAs.

60-80 catching for a pick dot. Higher the better but also the worse other parts of his game will be.

Aggressive matters a ton. INTs don't happen very often on contested passes.

I thought I'd seen this question asked before... found this:

does catching have an affect on the deflect ball roll?

No. Only insomuch as having less of it makes it more likely that you'll not get an interception.

Not exactly what I was looking for but close enough.

Yeah, the picks happen on stepping forward into the pass, often when a D dot is under and the cover dot is covering.

In an attempt to both show something useful here while admitting that I know very little about pick dots, I toyed with my SS last season using 9 or so EQ in jumping. He had 59 jump or so then and picked 9 passes off.

I believe you want super high vision and then jumping way before catching. I think 60 catching is plenty.

That dot rode with one developing AEQ in int%, 60 jump, 51 catch, and whatever the VA + attribute for vision was. Say 95.

That dot is on -95 cover distance, aggressive, pass focus.

You need to jump the route, cut the angle, see the play, and have enough catching to make a catch. If an EHB can catch plays when they are wide open with 60-70 catching, I have no idea why anyone would argue that taking a pick si D dot to 68+ makes sense. After all, they have ball hawk, face the pass, and have likely 2x times the vision of a 60-70 catch EHB.

Seriously. That build sucks ass and if he was ~100 vision, 68 + jump, and 60 catch, he'd kill it with a good DC.

Doesn't catching increase the catch radius? I imagine that would also expand your interception range.
