People either know how to build decent dots or they don't. It's all about desire. I've owned several teams with the only purpose of helping out new users and bad builders. People that build bad dots will continue to build bad dots. People that sign up and want to learn how to build dots will find the information they need one way or another.

I've ran into countless S1 users that can't build for shit nor do they care to learn.

this is true to a extent. I used to do exactly what you outlined in owning a team just to try to help some people get better at the game. I do not claim to be on the same level as Jdbolick, CerNet, Tautology or any of the other agents that most of the user base looks up to as far as knowledge of the game. but for every 5 agents I had on those teams atleast 1 or 2 of the agents actually started improving on their builds or even some on gameplanning. alot has to do with the agents needing to want to get better at the game and having the desire. I just think some groups in GLB are focused on helping other agents and actually do try to help their members. where there are also some bad groups on the game that give all the other groups a bad reputation because of their actions.

It's funny that we signed over 100 players for those teams. Many were vets that built horrible dots (SAs right off the bat, spreading around SPs, ect...) with just a few new users. Out of less than 10 new users a couple wanted to learn. None of the vets ever posted, asked questions, and apparently didn't read any of the guides or advice in the team forum.

Was pretty embarrassing to see the new users surpassing the vets by a mile by the end of the season.

Coalitions in GLB are almost to the point of being useless because everyone is typically apart of multiple coalitions anyways. So it may as well be the say as everyone just being independent.

sadly I have to agree with you here. I saw roughly the same type of stuff on the teams I used to try to help people out on. and then when you would take the time to PM the agents and try to explain what they could do to help get better. you would either not get a response of get a big FU. but I am glad I tried to help others what little I was able to do. the ones that have tried and actually worked have had some very good success so far on the game.

Very valid point. let me ask this how could coalitions cut down on agents being in multiple groups? maybe a forum where all the coalition heads post their membership and the groups actually try to limit their membership to just being in 1 group at a time?

The problem is is that there are only so many active forum users so that tends to leave the pool a little small to people in charge of different coalitions. People want activity but there's only so much of that to go around on GLB these days.

Would never work, the downfall of every network is that sort of action. You have to let the user do what they want. Impossible to dictate the actions of a random person on the interwebs.

completely understood and fully agreeing with you. I know that the groups I have been involved with have seen the activity go from alot to basically none the last couple of seasons. do any of you guys have any ideas on how the userbase could do something to improve the activity? we know that Bort and Co. are basically not doing much so what can we do as players to promote the game and get new users in here along with bringing back some of the old users?

meh

Agents being in multiple networks dilute the networks anyway.

They would need to unban most of the old users lol but I'm not sure much can be done. The game is pretty complicated so new users that stick around is slim. I think the main goal should be to try and keep the people that have stuck around and are tempted to leave.

I agree to a extent. but if the groups are actually willing to help their members. with building better players and learning to coordinate better and basically whatever will make the members better at the game. then why shouldn't the people that are members of that group be held accountable to that group? personally if I left my current group and was looking for some other group. I would look at what different groups had to offer in the way of helping me be more successful. and if I became a member of that group. then I should be respectful enough to do what I can as a member of that 1 group. to improve that groups success as much as possible. I think it is a little more about being respectful to someone for their help. rather than someone trying to dictate what I am able to do on a online game.

well sadly I don't think Bort and Co. are going to do much to help keep a strong userbase going. so what can we do as players on the game to help our own cause?

Define "coalition."

Seriously. Define it.

I consider myself to be independent. I've been invited to join several coalitions and have turned them down, nor have I ever set out to create or run one myself.

Yet I've been told by others before that I do, in fact, run a de-facto coalition. I have a core group of friends here in the game who always stand ready to build dots for me, some of whom are pretty well-connected in-game. I currently run 2 teams in the same age group. And I'm loosely connected to a couple of more-formally defined coalitions. In the minds of some people on here, I'm running a coalition, even though I would never in a million years consider it to be one.

So, define "coalition" please.
