DE in the flat is different than pass rush aggressiveness.

Technically, passive pass rush aggressiveness is working. In the linked play by the OP, the RDE stay in place for several ticks before finally going after the QB. His pass rush is less aggressive than normal. Its just not working the way users, including me, think it should (ie, the DE sees the HB run a route that appears to be a screen and breaks off the rush completely and goes to cover the HB).

right .... but if they broke off as you would want it would render screens useless , as screens were a few seasons back .....

but at this point it's all about the settings ... if they are not set to make the play don't expect them to .... it's only 1 in 20 when a DE makes the screen play stop without being set to cover the flat ..... and that 1/20 happens when they are blocked hard and bounce out into the flat ..... lol ?

.... setting the D Line to "Spread" can help

Screens aren't that easy to stop. You nearly have to sell out to stop them, and even then you are 1 missed tackle away from a big gain, and seeing as how Powerbacks catch screen passes regularly this can be a big issue. Again I'm just an average DC and I struggle endlessly with stopping screen passes no matter what players are on the field.

Half the time single covering the receivers and using Zone flats, and dual coverage on the backs still just gets 2 out of 3 players pancaked, or even if one gets through they get mowed, or spun on, or juked on.

Screens shouldn't be something to use every other down. My football logic (useless in GLB) tells me screens are to counter a heavy blitzing team.

as refered to by others , you can definitely blitz and stop the screen

One of my numerous suggestions was a second repeat play penalty for screens. Basically the idea was that the more screens you run (collectively, not just one particular screen play), the more likely the defense would be to read it. Putting DEs into the flat is frustrating for any football fan because it's so hideously unrealistic and takes a defender completely out of the play if it's any other kind of pass. I like that screens are effective now instead of being pointless like they were before, but they always swing between useless and overpowered. Right now they're overpowered.

Pass rush aggressiveness should stay outside the OT and contain. As you claim it's working why would anyone want their DE to pause and do nothing for 2 seconds before rushing the QB. This doesn't help screen or run or pass rush

I claim nothing of what you say

Eh...there are a lot of wonky things about screens in this game. But if you are going to make it so any screen becomes easier to read regardless of what formation it is then that is kinda stupid.

screens are not overpowered against my D .... lol

de's in the flat cover short passes of all types and outside runs ... and to your comment of being taken out , of course you are right to a great degree .... occasionally , they will break off and rush the QB or cover a pass to the under str or wk zone ..... what should happen there is that they break off their zone coverage much earlier and rush the QB

If one 100% passive I think the DE should follow OT outside like they once did but also receive a 1000% anti break pass block penalty as well so you lose all pass rush if watching for screens

Essentially it's like Flat zone without giving up the inside run everytime

There overpowered because the DE's keep Crashing even when set to Passive, lol.

But I agree with the DE's in the Flats.
