Yes, I realize. We've had this conversation multiple times

I realize that this is dotball, and not football, but that doesn't change what a play does. If a player, DE or OLB, is set to a flat, they cover that zone at the beginning of the play. If the back(s) do not leave the pocket then the flat will be redesigned. It's like a QB doing check downs. If a back does not leave the pocket and stays to block, the flat player will automatically blitz as his assignment is no longer valid. He will also do that if it is a single back set and the back goes to the opposite side that the player is covering. Essentially, you think he is not doing what you would like. Realistically, it makes sense. A player standing still on a side of the field that no players are going to is going to completely take him out of the play. Being proactive and trying to continue to be a part of the play is the best thing the player can do at that point.

Took me about 30 seconds to find an example, this is what usually happens.

Hey, that looks like your base defensive set there.

That play seemed to be over before the end could reassign himself but structurally sound.

Wat? The DE in my OP began his rush in much less time.

Are you looking at the right or left end?

The RDE in the play you posted didn't rush at all. Is that what you want or is that the example you are using to show what is supposed to happen and is not for you?

Uh, I said in that post that 'that is what usually happens.' I don't care which way happens, I just want some insight into what makes them decide to rush instead of float around all by their lonesome. Just let someone else talk or let the thread die. One of the two please.

Wow, I ask one question and everybody misinterprets it and flips out. B1G is an asshole to someone trying to help him and no one says jack. Figures it's just a small circle of friends preying on others. Good job.

Relax man, not that big of a deal. I don't take it personally and neither should you. Like I said, if you don't like what's in the forum, then don't read it.

I like the forums, I just don't like what you add to them in this case.
