I need a build plan for a ball handling dot that never gets tackled, please.

Our dots have never been stuffed for both 3rd and 1 and 4th and 1 plays back to back. Why waste 15 VA's for something you should be able to accomplish without the VA's.

Ever been stuffed just on 4th & 1? 'Coz the only way for that to happen is to come up juuuuust short on 3rd down to set up the 4th & 1 in the first place. Which brings us to...

Okay, since we're being pedantic today, I'll re-phrase.

*ahem*

Coz yeah, great OCs never have dots that get hit just short of the first-down line. Ever.

That's where Tenacious could be useful.

Notice my phrasing: useful. Not saying you should hack the system and put 847 points into it. Not saying you're an idiot if you leave it at 0... there's plenty of useful VAs available that, depending on the dot and the build and the offensive system, could definitely make more sense to use. I'm just saying it could be useful. And we've all been in games that we lost because we came up just short of a first down or a touchdown, and we've all been in games that we won because we picked up that crucial first down by the nose of the football.

Its not worth 15 VA's is what I am getting at. We can convert 9 out 10 short yardage situations without the VA.

Very true.

Also not very helpful if that 10th situation happens to occur when the game is on the line.

is that saying something about the sim or the DCs?

Sim, but I'm ok with it. Inside rushing was too difficult before.

Yeah but like I said it's not just about 3rd and 1 4th and 1.

It's about 2nd and 7 instead of 2nd and 8.

3rd and 3 instead of 3rd and 5 etc

4th and 1 instead of 4th and 4

Does Tenacious only give a chance of gaining ONE more yard? Description says "extra yards", but...loldescription

Tenacious
This player fights for every yard. Each level of Tenacious gives a +4% bonus to fight out extra yards when the tackler is using the Wrap Up tackling tactic setting, or a 2% bonus if he is using the Balanced tackling tactic setting.

It sounds to me like this is the sort of VA that fires while you're in the process of being tackled, so I'd find it hard to imagine it would get you more than a yard or two.

I agree. However, it's not uncommon for a player to be tackled, and keep his legs churning for another yard or two, or three, or more. For GLB sakes, I wouldn't be surprised to see a 1-3 yard potential.

I guess that's possible then.

We should check the Wiki to see if Bort's ever answered this in a Q&A.

Oh wait WE CAN'T.

Hi Bort / Catch:

Some question here:

1. Does never give up apply to any fall down? Like some caused by juked, faked, missed tackle, or cut blocked, or just apply to fall down caused by pancake?

2.Does VA Mr. first down apply to any where? or it only activate when you close to first down?
As example, 1st and 10, I run 3.5 yards, do I have chance to gain 0.5 yards with Mr. First Down?

3.Do I always gain "1" more yards when tenacious activate, or it still depends?

1. Never give up applies to any fall down, such as pancakes, missed tackles, cut blocked, falling down when catching a pass, etc. Fakes are not actually the player falling down; it's just a similar animation, and as such it does not apply.

2. Mr First Down only applies when you are actually near the first down.

3. Tenacious will give you extra distance, but it can be less than a yard. It's still a roll-based thing.

Are the effects of Tenacious VA and Dive4Yds SA multiplied by each other, or merely added?

They are sorta added, but not directly. Tenacious actually gives a player a better chance to use dive, as it makes his overall "fight for yardage" roll better.

For HB rushes: Does jumping have any positive affect on the Dive for Yard SA, Tenacious VA, or any other similar "eek out extra yardage" VA? i.e The higher jumping the have the more often the SA may fire or the more yards you'll dive (fight) for etc etc

No, it doesn't specifically apply to those skills. It does apply to breaking/avoiding tackles, however, so it sorta indirectly applies.

#10 - My question has to do with VA's- When the Tenacious VA fires, and you are fighting out extra yards, does that then give Shed Weight a chance to fire? Basically, do these VA's work with each other or can only one or the other fire on the same tackle roll?

You don't fight out extra yards the same way with both VA's. Shed weight requires having a player dragging on you, which technically means they missed the tackle, and the play has continued. Tenacious is for when the tackler has succeeded and the play finishes. The ball carrier can then "fall forward" for extra yards. - Bort
