I think you might be over-thinking this problem.

It was deemed a big enough problem that it was fixed. This was many seasons ago.

The OP not too big a deal. I was just being lazy not signing my contracts. Went to train and couldn't.

You are correct. It was put in place to prevent people from not signing with a team in order to avoid game XP. Since there's no game XP in the preseason there's no reason to keep the limitation in place.

Still need to keep it in place during the season itself, though. Starting on Day 1, if you're not on a team, you can't train.

Definitely. No need for it on and non-XP earning day.

The question is ultimately, what is the need to change it from the current scenario? Not is there a need for it to be the way it is right now. The fact of the matter is, preseason<>off-season. The way it is currently stated is you don't have to be on a team in the off-season to train. We are no longer in the off-season. There are plenty of ways around the issue also, you can simply hold on to them as you can hold up to 30 Training Points. There is no real need to make any change.

hmmm now I see the issue perhaps. Is the system also maintaining you can't have over 14 Training points in this scenario? Is that what I was missing?
