Pretty much for the most part this. Unless you get down to the point where ya need a game or 2 for the playoff race. We all really do like to wait until it is an absolute must to gameplan.

probably the first time hes needed to all season. Thought with 7 wins they should be clear playoff team.

serious question. if the WL/top pro guys dont gameplan for the regular season, why dont they take on teams in the lower levels to help out other coordinators? i usually just see a lot of the better coordinators go 0-16 in the lower leagues. yes, they could just destroy us and make us all quit GLB but i mean if they arent really doing anything all season why not just lend a hand to the little guys? im sure some of you already do but i mean i just dont really notice guys going outside of networks to lend a hand.

I have direct experience that this is incorrect.

I'm certain there are WL owners who coast in the regular season. I also know for a fact that there are WL owners who CLAIM to coast in the regular season, but when you scout them it becomes very clear that they do in fact gameplan all season long.

Some guys aren't above putting on a false front in the forums to get wins.

Well, if I was a WL owner who coasted during the regular season and only gameplanned for the playoffs, I don't think it would be a good idea for me to take on additional duties with a lower-level team just for the regular season. What happens when playoff time comes around? I'm going to shift my time and attention to my WL team -- and leave the lower-level team high and dry right when they need me the most.

Not to mention, the whole reason I'd want to coast during the regular season at all would be to reduce my time spent on GLB -- not to free up time to do something else in GLB instead.

Plus not everyone in WL who says they coast during the regular season actually does.

And different people have different definitions of "coasting" too... some people may consider "coasting" to be "I'll only spend 30 minutes gameplanning for each game, and then ramp it up to 3 hours for the playoffs." Myself, I don't consider that to be coasting... to me, coasting is setting an AI for Game 1 and letting it run untouched until Game 16.

WL game plans don't work with dots at lower levels - would be a completely different AI

and who says they don't help out other coordinators? if that got publicized they would be buried

they do sometimes run Pro League teams in the playoffs to get them to WL, but Bort/Catch kinda screwed them over putting WL and National Pro on the same game day

this is probably more the case - some WL guys don't do a thing if things are running decent, some might toss in 10-15 minutes (something THEY consider coasting)

in WL, it seems any seed wins it so playing for playoff seed doesn't seem to matter

edit - and you are spot on about the playoffs - why run a team in the reg season only to abandon to run WL playoff teams

I forgot all about that. KEY point there, reddog. I remember a lot of bitching about that in the WL forums when they made that change, for precisely that reason.

Isn't it obvious? laziness.

But really a lot of them don't do anything for the league games, but might still be working on their defenses if there are holes or even new defenses in private games. Some of us also have a bunch of other teams we are helping too.

A lot of us also don't like the lower levels because players do dumb things which makes us have to create new AI's for them a lot of the time. All for a league we don't care too much about winning. Plus most of those teams you see going 0-16 are guys like snoop who finishes at level 79 with 0 AEQ's, 1500 BT's, and 70 VA's to apply.

i think you guys misunderstood me. probably my fault.

i didnt mean for the top guys to just take over a team i meant for them to lend a hand. help fix AIs, teach coordinators what to look for when scouting, help with VAs and stuff. it'd probably be a bit of work but then we'd have more decent coordinators and then they could pass their knowledge on and shit. i know theres a lot of people that would be like "yeah id love to learn from you" but then never really try and never learn but some people, including myself wouldnt mind having a great OC teach me a few things. I'm not a very good OC but i love it and since i recruit i get to run what i want with the dots i want. I just think it would be helpful to pass on knowledge to others which quite a few users do seem to do in the forums. Its just always something i wondered. didnt mean to step on any toes.

haha yeah i know. you guys have crazy amounts of dots and all that so im sure keeping up with VAs and AEQ would be brutal. i didnt mean take over completely and use new AIs. i tried to explain myself a little better in my above post.

Those guys you see gameplans changing may not even be the result of playing you or anyone else though. Might just be a change they made to stop a hole from constantly getting hit so they made a new play. Or DS uses like 5 peoples defenses and rotates them around. I add a new play all the time that has nothing to do with the team I am playing. Just me trying a new play.
