Exactly. That's what I have been trying to get thru to these guys

I agree. A scouting report can help. I was just making a point for whoever that a OC/DC should do his own scouting and not just base things off a report.

thats all i was getting at.

well actually you implied that scouts arent useful and you suck if you dont do your own scouting.

i was saying its just a bonus having a scout to assist you in your gameplanning.

Seems like a pretty broad assumption.

A good enough scout can do that for you as well whodey

A good scout can read the other team just as well as you can, maybe even better.

Of course nothing beats doing it yourself, but still, nothing wrong with having a scout imo.

it is fine to have a scout - but an OC who just takes other people's scouting and does none of their own won't be as good

^Debatable.

First day OC gets a scout report from bhall on the opposing defense.

What is better? His scout report? or Bhall's.

You guys are exaggerating the issue, scouts are fine, In the past scouts have given me better reports than ones i have made myself. It is good to know how to find what you need personally to enhance your offense, but someone who knows what you want to run may just very well out do you.

I think this is one of those areas where the "best" method is whatever works for you.

That said, it's hard for me to imagine a scenario in which an OC could be terrible at scouting but great at gameplanning based on someone else's scouting report. And you're certainly not going to learn as much in the long-run from reading someone else's scouting reports as you'll learn from doing your own scouting. Scouting does more than just showing you how your next opponent's defense works... it also shows you the overall mechanics of how defense works in general, and knowing that will make you a better OC. And there's simply no way to learn that from reading someone else's scouting reports.

So, if you can find a way to make it work by having Person B do the scouting and giving a report to Person A, who then puts together the gameplan, hey, go for it. But I think Person A is going to be better off in the long run if they do some scouting on their own as well. Otherwise, when Person B rage-quits, Person A is ska-rewed.

Not quite, I remember for one of my PW CC games, lordevil stirred up a scout report that exceeded all of my expectations,
and was so in depth I only needed to follow it like a manual.

Is it my fault he is that good?

I might be able to give them some plays to use but they know their offense as it is geared around their beliefs, not mine. I could say chuck a 40 yard pass to your TE in the endzone but that probably won't work out for them as it would for me.

I was just using you as an example because you know 1 or 2 things about offense.

I would think would you scout another teams defense it should at least show you what type of defense they are running, rather than just the plays being run against them.. Obviously you can watch the replays against them to determine what they are doing, but I don't want to click through every play. There should be something that breaks down the plays run against their defensive sets.

It isn't very helpful to know they run a 4-3/3-4/dime/nickel/etc...once the DPC hit you pretty much had to look at plays to know anything about what would work offensively against someone.

Now prior to the DPC, there was an agent who made a nice little script that broke down what defenses a team would run and what offensive plays to run for those specific situations. It was pretty lol.
