Dang, guess I've missed a couple of updates then. I have 2003, so still not gonna work on my version.

2007 must've been when they got rid of the one-click buttons and put everything into those menus. I have 2003 -- both at home and on my work computer at my main job, though at my part time job the computer I use has 2007.

Funny part is, at my main job, every one of my co-workers upgraded their Microsoft Office suites to the new version last year, and everyone who switched bitches about the changes. I'm the only one who opted out of the "upgrade," and the old Excel still works just fine for me, even when I need to read a file from a new version. Nobody uses any of the "new" features, so Office 2003 plus an adapter works just fine for opening files in the newer formats.

I used 2003 extensively before work updated to 2010. Just before the update they gave me 2007 for a short amount of time saying it was similar to 2010 and they needed me to get up to speed before the change over. Power users I don't think dislike the 2007-2010 upgrades. I know I love it. It is far more powerful and I would not say that it is all that difficult to get to your features that are not on the home menu. Really 2010 is light years beyond 2003 in user-interface and features.

Maybe I'd like the updated Excel more then if I was doing more complicated stuff with my spreadsheets?

People around here at work think I'm an Excel guru, but I'm really not. I use a lot of rather simple functions that I self-taught myself... I just have a knack for putting them together in complicated ways. And at home, I use Excel for my budget and for some of my GLB stuff, though not as much for GLB as I used to.

2013?

If you are talking about 2010, you can create your own tabs and things of that nature if it suits you better. This way you can put everything you use frequently on one tab. Other than that I would have to say that most things are in a pretty logical location. If they aren't then they have a good quick key method (most of us who overuse excel use quick key methods more than anything else honestly).

Yeah, I can usually find what I need... I just don't want to have to click 3 times to do shit I used to be able to do with 1 click. Nor do I want to spend time creating extra tabs to make the program more user-friendly. Having to do that at all is, in and of itself, not user-friendly.

They took something that wasn't broken and "fixed" it.

Finally a thread I can relate to. I've been using Excell for decades and have over 200 custom sheets I use for various stuff (like finances and this game) but mostly for Baseball.
