Interesting idea but it's not going to happen, mainly because from a business perspective it makes no sense and because Digital Daggers has always been against fracturing the user base any more than it already is. Adding another league type would do this. From a financial viewpoint, this would be a terrible business decision. If users could just run teams using CPU dots, there would be an incentive to not build players. Building players and the purchase of flex to build those players is what generates the majority of the revenue for GLB. I'm not the business guy for GLB but even if I weren't working for GLB, I would look at this idea and think it would not make business sense. To make something like this financially viable for GLB, we'd have to make the cost for owning a team exorbitant - to the point where no one would essentially want to purchase a team.

Feel free to continue discussing but I don't think anything like this would happen.

Well couldn't you just charge 5k flex or whatever you see fit pr. season owning one of these teams?

I could actually see this as a way to give back to some long term players, shed some life, and maybe reward people for spending money on the game.

Something like: spending x number of $ on flex unlocks franchise mode, or player must have 5 dots active or something like that. Maybe even with a waiting list style thing, and not too many of these... where you get it for 2 seasons and then have to go back on the list.

might be semi enticing to some of the old salts, hopefully wouldn't take up too many resources, and depending on how complicated it was, could probably be done along side other leagues easy.

All in all I'm just hoping it might cause a few people to stay a season or two longer, or old salts that quit to come back for a season or two (and possibly get hooked again.

The answer is to limit the number of teams in such a league and make users bid on them auction-style to acquire them. If after a couple of seasons the financial viability doesn't exist, you cut it.

"exorbitant" team costs already exist for some people. Like any team that currently builds all 55 players.

This league wouldn't replace the demand for building players, because that is a huge part of this game.

The idea isn't going to require much effort, you just need to scale back some of the CPU changes unless they would also apply to CPUs in GLB main.

Yeah, I don't see how this would really compete with "normal" GLB. After all, Catch said that "player building" was by far the most common survey response as to what people enjoy most. Plus, with only one season at a time and no advancing structure, it's really nothing more than a diversion like Peewee, something people can already play with non-boosting dots.

I feel like I should be offended by you calling me an old salt.

This is actually a very good idea.

Hopefully it gets some consideration.

I can't imagine playing that instead of buying dots. It will either be people who also buy dots and play the game normally or else those who weren't going to build dots regardless.

It could be worked out to be a net positive to the site, both revenue wise and activity wise.
Have a limited number of franchises with identities that don't change from season to season.
Each off season do a lottery for team ownership for the coming season, where every active GLB user with active players gets a certain number of chances based on the number of active players he/she has by season rollover. Everyone gets some chance. More active players - more chance. Interested users opt in.
Winners get to offer limited GM/ coordinator spots and have a certain number of Team Sponsors to share possible upgrade costs or team costs.
The league could have a set pool of CPU players with known and unknown potentials that are then drafted onto the teams during the preseason. The player names could change each season to hide the superstar potential players. This opens a lot potential for flex usages in obtaining the players you think you want.
GLB could send strippers to users homes who make detailed suggestions. (Just checking to see if anyone was still reading)
A lot could be done with it I think.

just create the league yourself, league underground style

make a PF get 16 teams(8 in each league), set a schedule and start rolling

this would be the most pure PvP style in this game

We are going to be testing a new policy within the suggestions forums.

NGTH suggestions that have good thought generating material potential will be move to GLB Main for discussion. (obviously things like "ban all mods" and "let us play for free" etc are still not going to be allowed)

But that way suggestions like this can generate some discussion, potentially with some weigh in from other mods / admins other than just NGTH

that being said... the main idea of this topic is NGTH because additional league types (non-boosting, ironman, locked leagues, etc) has been ruled NGTH. This suggestion would require another league be made... thus NGTH

so moving to GLB Main and we'll see if worthwhile discussion has been generated.

+100000000000000000000000 to promoting discussion.

Not sure why it has to be moved, but thats not a biggie.
