Saves time for me, but I grew up using computers with a keyboard only, before mouses really came into fashion. So, keyboard shortcuts can be just as quick as mouse-click combos for me. I'm THAT good with a keyboard.

It takes one motion to copy via CTRL+C, versus many with the mouse moving around and clicking.

It also saves time because you can copy instantly after you select your text that you want to copy. With a mouse you would have to move the mouse back over to the selected area, right-click, move mouse to copy, left-click. That is a lot more time consuming than hitting two keyboard keys that are very close together.
Like I said with CTRL+C, you can, while you are selecting your text area with the mouse, position your other hand on the CTRL+C and instantly copy after selection.

If you don't have a keyboard, I could see right-clicking being relevant.
