It also saves time because you can copy instantly after you select your text that you want to copy. With a mouse you would have to move the mouse back over to the selected area, right-click, move mouse to copy, left-click. That is a lot more time consuming than hitting two keyboard keys that are very close together.
Like I said with CTRL+C, you can, while you are selecting your text area with the mouse, position your other hand on the CTRL+C and instantly copy after selection.
If you don't have a keyboard, I could see right-clicking being relevant.
