It's taken 3-4 days for FP to show up in my account the last 2 times I purchased it. Don't wait until the last minute.

I really despise Paypal as well and didn't buy any flex for a period of time to avoid having to deal with them. I made an online purchase through Paypal with a prepaid card 10 or 15 years ago. It went smooth and I threw away that card and forgot about it. Years later I tried to do the same thing again but they refused to recognize me until I provide them with info from that prepaid card that was discarded years ago. I've since made several flex purchases following the previously stated guidelines that have surprised me and gone through smoothly.

All transactions go through PayPal. Has always been like that.
You don't have to login. You'll still be able to use debit and credit alike even if you don't log into a PayPal account. I've purchased flex with all 3 forms of typical payment (debit/credit/Visa giftcard)
That'd be fine... if it would LET me use my debit card. It was until not too long ago last year. Then the log-in page changed and now it doesn't accept the Debit card. As I said... already contacted support about this and they know of the issue. I was just putting this out there in case I'm not the only one with this problem (I seriously doubt my debit card is the ONLY debit card in the universe causing an issue with paypal). The solution s'plained to me was to use the Visa giftcard instead. That seems to work. I just haven't tried it yet so I don't know for sure if it works... but if support says so, then I believe it's so.

The key seems to be paying as a "Guest" and having a zip code registered to match. Before I did this, I was getting gift cards for, say $50, spending about $20 to see if it would work (which it was), and then when I would try to use it again to spend the rest I would get blocked. From there everyone at Paypal insisted that the only way that I could prove my identity was to provide the card number of the card that I had used once successfully and thrown away years earlier. Ridiculous.

Yup, giftcards you have to register an address with it. Most cards have a website or phone number on the back of the card for doing this.
