I can't think of any other online game that requires new users to wade through a combination of old Q&A posts, other users' opinions scattered throughout the forums and a questionable wiki to get answers.

Well, tbh, it's a relatively empty suggestion. You have the strategy without the tactics, so to speak.

Oh, sorry I thought the "tactic" was simple. Gather all the information you can about the game, and place it where it is relevant in the game. Wait, it is simple. Quit being obtuse.

Yep no other games have that, WoW or everquest or lord of the rings online or DDO or vanguard or rift or the secret world or borderlands or any EA sports game or.....

Oh wait, all those places have wiki's and forums and third party sites containing all sorts of user created information so you can find out more about the game and you often have to sift through posts and wiki's trying to find an answer.

The suggestion is empty because all you are suggesting is "Put more stuff up because we users shouldn't have to help you (GLB) add more into the wiki for things that are missing or incorrect". If you see (or don't see) something that needs more info, send a PM to support or to a specific admin (Ellis Belle perhaps) that something needs to be changed or added.

Would be great if they had a better search tool, for things like the Q&A- partial matches, AND/OR logic +/- to lock in or eliminate words for example. That would help significantly and would be a specific suggestion to help improve the wiki.

Perhaps what they need is an easy to use submission system that doesn't allow info to be directly posted, like the original wiki which then had a lot of misleading and sabotaged pages, but would allow them to look through and add it into the wiki to fix up incorrect pages.

So a vague +1 just to the idea that the wiki need work but a -1 to the whining.

It's not that simple, because there's a crap ton of "knowledge" that can't just be dumped on every page.

take a look at any of the official GLB FAQ pages --the ones that are linked from pages, and its clear that much of it hasn't been updated in like 20 seasons.

example http://goallineblitz.com/training_faq.html mentions shopping tokens but not multi-training

no, really it is that simple. This is not rocket science, and amount of "knowledge" really isn't a large issue at all. In fact, it is the opposite of an issue. Just start gathering it the knowledge. You will eventually see that much of it is outdated and unnecessary. After you whittle down the information that is still relevant you will likely see that it really isn't as much as you thought it was. If I am wrong there are these things called links that work wonders, perhaps the site should learn what they are. I really hate it when people make something more difficult than it really is. Again, stop being obtuse. There really is no other tactic than sitting down and doing it.

I laughed, I cried.... tell the story again.

As far as I know the people in charge of documenting GLB and updating the wiki are the support admins. Problem is that group of admins never played GLB.

Basically when I see something on the wiki that is really outdated I find a newer link and message support...they get it updated when they have time.

Where is that old training_faq linked? That's the out-dated guide, not the rewritten one that is listed on the FAQ page.

Fun fact: some of us did sit down to do it. The bulk of it resulted in updated FAQs and Wiki pages.

GLB can't just drop 10-15 links on every page. There is a such a wide-level of information that one could seek. What is relevant to you isn't relevant to a newbie and so forth. I could definitely see more Wiki integration into the actual site (not just a tab at the top of the page), but that does leave some information subjective being that it is a Wiki.

Just more proof that the documentation needs to be cleaned up, updated, and re-organized

No, YOU stop talking. Read your posts, you're nothing for this thread but a troll underneath a bridge. I may volunteer my time for the forum, but I am within this thread for a suggestion on the issue presented. I'm not pitching my own ideas to the admins through the mod forum.

Provide a solution. That's the beauty of this suggestion forum. We can agree that an issue exists, but we need to develop a solution to remedy that issue. Expecting a fix otherwise is futile.

How can GLB meet our goals (exactly how whodey puts it):

Documentation being
- cleaned up
- updated
- re-organized

and then deliver that to users of the site
