I'd like to see some of the forums be managed better. If you are going to have TLFP or PLFT - make subforums for the different age groups. Both teams and agents know exactly where to go to find a match - they don't have to navigate through continually bumped threads that are completely useless to them. Yeah, the rookie leagues would still be a bump-fest, but the rest of them would actually be much more efficient.

A good start would be getting rid of the trading forum and merge tournaments forum with the press release forum.

Even better would be get rid of them and boost the capabilities of the marketplace.

This is almost a good idea... just way too overdone. You simply cannot "condense all the forums" as you wish. Each team desires/needs it's own forum. Some people want their own forums to limit who is in them. Some forums need to exist separately from others (you don't want the suggestion forum merged with the bug forum and the FAQ forum). And so on....
But there is SOMETHING that could help. Seriously, I don't get why there are old dead posts from 5 years ago still sitting in (and clogging up) various forums out there. I played an online game where old forum posts, after a certain period of time, got moved into an "Old Posts" forum. This way stuff could be kept until it was certain it was no longer relevant or needed before being eventually deleted. Also, if anyone really needed to look up something that antiquated, you just went to the "Archives" and found what you wanted (sorted just as if it was in the current forums). This kept the forums clean and useful and much easier to find what you wanted without having to sort through a mess.
I'm all for cleaner, easier, neater forums... which also means I'm against the OP as it would lead to much messier ones instead.

I am sorry I must be writing in a confusing way.

The idea does not intend to eliminate team forums or private forums or league forums.

Just combine alot of the topic public forums into fewer more active ones.

As for it not being neat und tidy, that is not what forums are for. And regardless the level of chatter as forumites are concentrated will ensure old threads are cleaned up and put on the back pages before too long.

Yeah, but thats going to be pretty much impossible to replace the flexibility that forums provide teams that need players - especially when it comes to planning future teams. Simply can't do that in the Marketplace because players don't even exist yet to fill those teams - because those teams for the most part don't exist either.

They could add a team marketplace.

If they do the letter of intent thing that could be dealt with.

+1 on the forum reorganization
-1 on the execution here

There's been some discussion in the mod forum on the forum structure in the past. My main emphasis was to fight for a unified 'help' forum.

Essentially you bring in 'Tactics Help', 'Build Help', and 'Guides' subforums to FAQ and then rebrand it to sound less "you're a newb if you post for help here". The main idea being to create a unified center for game-related help.

Actually had a lot of good thoughts in my post on the entire forum, maybe I'll dig it up and post it.

Only going to post some elements due to admin comments ruling some things out. Bold/italics = Pallow's comments and may or may not reflect current opinion.

Also note that much of this was drafted up well over a year ago. Stuff has changed in that timeframe. I had to half-mangle this post just to be anything post-able for today's GLB.

Suggestions
- Resort through epic suggestions and make it reflect threads that are put up for vote. Implemented threads removed.
----żNew Icon or colors to notify the users that the thread is either up for vote or removed?
- Create an "idea development" subforum. A moderator/admin selected 10-15 threads at a time for ideas that need to be hashed out more. For example, say Bort needs feedback on a particular idea or just some brainstorming. The subforum would act as an easy place for users to get in and actively develop good ideas. If the threads failed to develop, a moderator could simply remove it from the subforum. If it worked out, up to vote and epic it.
----Doable

FAQ
- Create a subforum in FAQ devoted specifically to Guides. Not only will this centralize information but it will allow for less of a mess with stickies in FAQ and likewise push for some new guide creation.
----Doable
- Move the Tactics Discussion subforum to FAQ and rename it 'Tactics Help/Discussion'.
----Doable
- Move the 'Rate my Player' subforum to FAQ and rename it 'Build Help/Discussion'. Again, we're centralizing the FAQ forum to be the information and help gateway for users.
----Doable

Goal Line Blitz
- Rename the Goal Line Blitz forum to "Goal Line Blitz Discussion".
----Doable
- Eliminate Rate my Player. Rebranded and moved to FAQ.
----Doable
- Eliminate Position Talk forum all together. Very duplicative of the "Rate my Player subforum, even more so if it's rebranded as Build Help/Discussion. Save all guides beforehand.
----Doable
- Create what I'm calling a "pseudo-sticky" (resembles a subforum visually but it's just a block that links to somewhere, something simple like this http://i54.tinypic.com/2lb0tg4.gif )
- Create a GLB Radio pseudo-sticky with "on-air" signifier when on-air.
----Questionable
- Relocate Test Server Discussion and Game Changes Discussion to the Goal Line Blitz Discussion forum as subforums.
----Doable
- Move Tactics Discussion out.
----Doable
- Create a Replays/Games Worth Bragging About subforum in the GLB forum to replace Game Recaps.
----Doable

Game Recaps
- Moved under Goal Line Blitz discussion as a subforum.

Recruiting
- Pull into the Goal Line Blitz header as a main forum. Destroy the Recruiting Header along w/ TLFP.
----Doable
- Team Press Releases is changed into a subforum for Network Support/Recruiting
----Doable
- Trading Block is relabeled as Player Swaps/Trades to more accurately reflect it's purpose.
----Doable
- PLFT is relabeled 'Player Recruiting' and rules are set that the forum is purely PLFT-based. TLFP threads will be locked/deleted.
----Doable
- New subforum created for New Team Recruiting.
----Doable
- Marketplace pseudo-sticky is created to increase its use.
----Questionable
- Friendlies is moved into it's own main forum, relabeled as Tournaments, Challenges, Friendlies.
----Doable
- Remove the position based subforums in PLFT. They just become duplications and/or unread. Keep GMs/OCs/DCs, but add a subforum specifically for Minor Leagues.
----Doable

Regional Forums
- Each League has own forum (grouped forums are horrid as is), only forums you are a part of (player on team or GM on team) are displayed.
----Questionable
- Dropdown giving the ability to hide/show league forums from teams you GM or hide all/show all.
----Questionable
----I really want to do something with the League Forums, but we need to try and use the code we currently have.

Network/Team Forums
- Add ability to be able to "link" teams to form a network.
- Instead of showing the team forum a unified team forum would be displayed. This would bring together a higher quantity of agents and eliminate much of the need of having extra private forums.
- Create some sort of network bio type page with network leaders.
- Subforum creation ability for these Network forums. Additionally, the ability to make a subforum "password entry only" (or better yet to only selected individuals) would be a plus for use as coordinating forums.
- Fuse D-League Team Forums all into one unified team forum w/ established stickies/links to resources.
-----------Questionable - Bort/DD probably would be interested in getting some Networking code into the game, but it may not be something we can do right away.
