Only example i could find from my last game, but as you can see MLB is set to under middle zone and he bites on the WR2 who is likely right on the edge of his zone area and yet still runs over their, which then leaves WR1 to make the catch in the exact space the MLB was supposed to be...
what they should do is have another option for defenders who are in zone coverage, which is like the drop down tab they have now but have another one that allows them to choose what player they want to focus more on...
for example, the MLB is in middle zone but his other option for being in zone has him focussed on the WR1, so if the WR1 goes into his area then he bites but if others go into it then he stays at the spot he is supposed to be...
In theory that might work but in that i link i would say working as intended. idea of zones is to watch the QB and react to where he is looking, the MLB recognized that he is looking at WR2 so he started to move over there to help out in coverage and unfortunately WR1 happened to have that type of route that brought him through that zone. If the MLB didn't inch over toward WR2 then he may have caught it instead.
