The current system is just fine.

i've always thought that players should be able to retire at any time w/o needing to be released.

however, since yello once again created a suggestion based on him being unable to manage the teams and players that no one forced him to create, a big -1 to this suggestion.

Just because you manage your flex as well as your team doesn't mean GLB needs to cater to you.

Not just me Dog. Every single season I get a flurry of PMs from people looking to get released at the end of the season because they need the flex. But I can't release them till Day 41, when their contract runs anyway.

So I am not the only one feeling the need here.

And like I said its not just flex. I want to get the retiring part out of the way so I have more time for business during player creation etc.

You obviously have a lot of agents on your teams who don't know the rules

Have you ever read the forums?

Free to play ensures n00bs. That and an intentionally confusing interface and dispersed vague and often hidden rules makes it rather mean spirited to complain about a player not knowing one.

To be fair, any agent on one of yello's teams should be able to retire before Day 41

so +1

That is a valid point imo.

And as noted above, what does the owner care? The dot wasn't going to extend anyway.

You don't get it, dude. Doing this (your way) would open up the possibility of someone rage dropping their dots without any notification. That is WRONG. If you want to fix it so owners have the ability to drop dots earlier, then that should be your suggestion... not placing it in the agent's hands. That is bad and can ONLY lead to bad things happening. Team first.
All that said, I am currently having to have 3 teams I play for drop a dot of mine so I can recycle for flex. I PM'd them and explained my situation and they were THANKFUL that I gave them a "head's up" so they can make plans for replacing the holes I am creating by doing this. When they can, they will release my dots and I'll retire them in PLENTY of time before start of next season. And that's why I just don't see why the system should change. It's this way for a reason and the reason is good.

You have to understand that yello thinks the season is only 32 days long.

I do not think you are getting my point here.

There is no way for a team to release your dot between the trade deadline and day 41.

This would give a dot owner that wants to retire his dot a way to get off the team before day 41. So its giving you something you CAN NOT get now, no matter how nicely you ask.

AND its not inconveniencing anyone because 1) It can only happen AFTER the team is done for the season meaning it either did not make the playoffs and its after game 16 or they did make the playoffs but they lost a playoff game, and 2) It can only happen if their contract is set to expire on day 40 of this season.

So the dot is one the team no longer needs this season and is not contracted with for next season. You may say "but he could send them an offer" but the dot wants to retire so he would not have accepted the offer anyway. And really you should have sent your offers before then.

As for it being a way to empower rage quitting, I guess if you were so mad about not making the playoffs that you wanted to melt down your dot I guess that is true. But I do not know that we need to have a wait till day 41 cool down period for that reason.
