just add a force starter checkbox under advanced energy settings for each position. if lft blank, it defaults to the above settings. seems like a very simple change. it would only take glb, 3 or 4 seasons to work the kinks out.

3-4 seasons maybe, but basically what you said, add it to the advanced energy settings... not the specific DAI, that would be way too complex and lead to too many false bug reports

Agreed. Why not edit your OP to include the newest part of the suggest (put in Advenced Energy Settings screen)?

bump for an excellent suggestion.

Edit: If custom slots for every position is going to perpetually be on the NGTH list, this is the next best thing.

I went through trying to get this waaaay back. At the time there was supposed to be a possible exploit and it was shot down. Perhaps something less granular than "per position" like O, and D lines, secondary, backs, LB's, etc. might fly.
Anyone remember what that potential exploit was?
Something about the energy settings and having some players loaded with the VAs geared to particular downs I think.......?
Perhaps it could be paired to a limit on the energy options, if used, to then avoid the exploit?

then why have any, if not all?

unless it is to make people feel better about spending 300 flex on a position that consistently gets nerfed.

Yep, some of us want to feel like we're playing a virtual football game with all of the relevant options that can be reproduced. I really don't know what some people are here to do. Play Facebook?
Bort's gotta decide which crowd he wants to serve. He can't please everyone, and the social networking arena is gonna be tough to compete in.
I was initially opposed to him developing a new game as it would detract from the time he could invest in developing GLB more but I now think it's a good move. Give those who are more interested in forum posting and building circles of friends something to do and get out of the way of the majority here who want to play the most realistic American Football simulation available.
What would Vince Lombardi say........

And I'm sure all 3 of you are happy with gameplanning being a full time job.
