Depends on whether there is equipment tied too it...

i'd rather see good eq attached to a playoff mvp, and much lesser eq attached to the season mvp. makes manipulating the season mvp much less attractive, and solves the argument whether non playoff teams should get mvps.

Eq would be nice, but does not have to be part of it. Especially if it would be a deal breaker.

Regular season stats are lol anyway. Most teams don't really try until the playoffs start. It's been that way for a long time now.
Creating the playoff MVP fixes a lot of the issues that people have with the MVP as it is now.
