64 yards should be max FG range in entire GLB universe unless they make a Super Hero League.

They absolutely should not get rid of any D-Leagues.

I have a Possession WR who was Regional Minor level this season. He wasn't going to be useful this season to any human team and I knew that because I had to work on his majors first which left him well too slow, even with all his equipment in Speed, to be useful to anyone. I certainly wasn't going to try to market him. Someone even asked about him (his stats were closed) and I told him how slow he was, said I'd sign if they still wanted him, but advised them to look elsewhere. They made the wise choice not to sign him, so he played in the D-Leagues.

Had there not been D-Leagues his level, I'd have had to screw over that team or otherwise finagle him onto a human team's roster. It was much more right that I was able to be a nice guy and honestly say that my player couldn't help them.

This season I did start filling up his Speed, and he'll be on a human team (the deal's already been worked out) for next season. He'll still be slow even for his level, but not so ridiculously slow as to be useless. But the D Leagues need to be there, among other things, for non-Speed archetype players in Speed positions.

That really makes no sense. I can't figure out how signing with a team that needs WRs would be screwing them over.

just sign with one of the hundreds of CPU teams.

D-Leagues are necessary because of so many teams with bad ownership and coordinators. Sometimes it's better to be D-League. I got a HB that I wish I had left in D-League instead of signing him with anyone.

As far as the max FG range thing for CPU teams, I see no harm in changing it.

+1

Your HB is on a team full of CPU dots with a human owner. What's the difference?

They don't need a WR with only 80 Speed (which is approximately where he was at the beginning of the season). I did offer to sign with them; I just advised them against it.

I'm sure some team out there would have taken him.

And what constitutes a "bad owner" when compared to CPU teams? Everyone receives max XP now as well as basic equipment being free.

(I do have an opinion on the higher-level D-leagues, but don't want to derail the thread any further.)

The problem with FG range is two-fold. First, the CPU teams are using basic AI, which doesn't have any max FG range set. This is a good thing because of the way the game is coded -- you don't want rookie-level kickers forced to make 50-yard attempts, and you don't want pro-level kickers prevented from making 40-yard attempts. Second, the max range is set to how far a kicker can kick instead of how far a kicker can kick with a reasonable amount of accuracy. Basically, it's maximum kicking range, not maximum field goal range. That's a logic flaw that's been there since alpha testing.

I would be in favor of coding the max FG range to be 5-10 yards short of the kicker's max kicking range, especially since there are already AI settings for allowing kickers to try FGs outside of their normal range. That wouldn't break anything and would greatly help teams that leave the max range field blank.

I guess the other end to this suggestion would be to allow each agent to set the maximum attempt for his player.

I'd +1 that. Team AI > team tactics > player tactics > GLB default

way way way more than enough cpu controlled teams to handle the d league load. maybe a few worthless qb and hb wont find teams but thats a good thing IMO.

This tbh. If we are discussing the D-leagues, if you are going to give CPU teams the ability to sign players, then you can get rid of the D-leagues since they are basically the same thing.

As for the suggest itself, +1 to adding a max attempt of say 65-66 yards because when someone beats the record people will want it more.
